Aqua Terra - better to buy new or slightly used?

I would avoid 8500 movement, due to jumping hours issue.

For what it's worth, I have 5 Omegas with the jumping hour "time zone" feature. None have given me the date wheel issue.

How about a Date Just 41?

Always looked out of proportion to me. 36mm, sure. Not keen on the others.

Funny how Day Date 40 proportions are good but date just 41 are off

Is this something you have experienced personally? because this is a no issue, 8500 movement is solid.

What jumping hours issue? I have an 8500 and it runs perfectly without issue.

I seem to remember to have read somewhere that the early 8500's hour wheel had a premature wear so it needed to be swapped in service, and that later they modified the wheel and fixed it.

That's great. Hopefully it will continue that way.

Not directly, but several close friends. Try searching "omega 8500 issues" in google. Some examples:

Considering the same. Very difficult decision and hard to view the older ones in person.

My first post here.
I have never had any problem with my Aqua Terra cal8500 for six year, works smoothly.
A nice watch to wear, feels nice on the wrist, 41,5mm.
It`s harder to find a nice brown leather strap for it 😀

Do scratches bother you? I couldn’t get rid of my AT fast enough. The bezel was a scratch magnet in spite of babying it. I realize scratches are part of ownership, but I was super gentle and still got hairlines.

Drove me nuts.

Slightly used for me. Can get it heavily discounted and I hate scratching up a new watch, so ideal if it’s already used

If hairlines bug you, look elsewhere. Drove me nuts.

I wouldn't mind paying full price for some watches, but the aqua terra is not one of them. You should be able to get a 20% discount on them.

IMO buy a new one but at a 15-20% discount. This forum's for sale section has several.

I will always buy Omega watches preowned because the price is better and an Omega watch which have been taken care and with service will run like a new one..

That's where I am with Omega watches; buying just slightly used examples. I've done this for all of my Omegas, save for my 1861 hesalite Speedie; I wanted the full experience, so I bought that one fresh and brand new.

I will buy new from a dealer, not from AD and take the price down
