Apollo 13th 50th Anniversary deposits?

My OB told me probably two tone and a gold like the 11th. Details in a few weeks with deposit probably $5k.

From what I understand re: deposits at OB; watches under $10k require a full deposit and watches over $10k require a 50% deposit.

That depended on the country, UK and some others don't really allow deposits if they can't guarantee delivery, the US required full deposits in most instances with ability to cancel at any time.

Apologies, I should have mentioned that's what I was told for OBs in the USA.

I'm in the US so the deposit I'm referring to is a US OB and he was guessing that $5k. He said he will have more information in a few weeks. Given the steel 321 EW was over $14k I expect this to be over $10k, but that is speculation on my part and when he gets back to me in a few weeks I'll update this thread.

The Apollo 11 50th was $9,650, hard to believe this one will be more than that since it will probably have the same ugraded 3861 movement.

I agree that a two-tone version will be around that price, but if they make an all-gold version you can bet it'll be $30K+.

I heard a rumour that the watch will be a celebration of Snoopy not necessarily Apollo 13th.

Makes sense. Apollo XIII is not really something to celebrate as they failed to land on the moon and we do not see Omega celebrating Apollo XII or Apollo XIV that were full success

Because a Snoopy Speedmaster will sell much better... even in white Gold ... while in 2003 nobody gave a damn !

Anyone have any idea what is happening in U.S. states where all boutiques and ADs are closed? For instance, those of us in California or New York? Are you all planning to call them once they reopen, or are you trying other routes to get on a "list"?

As far as I know the Snopy Award was launched in 1968, it would not be a 50th anniversary

I always hear deposits, is really strange, I never had to do a deposite here in Germany. Other countries different manners.
Here he would have to deliver me an Apollo 13 if I had made a deposit on it.

My statements to Bond were correct that I had gotten from my dealer, so I believe him, the next statement was no Snoopy but a new Speedy Thuesday.

Same in UK you can't deposit

Yes, no reason to celebrate the outstanding leadership, engineering prowess, and team efforts that ensured the successful return of three crewmen after a catastrophic explosion 200,000 miles from home. RME

Though, your point on not celebrating subsequent missions is well taken. There's money at play, which is why I'm surprised they didn't capitalize on XIII for its unique place in Apollo history

I fully understand your point. My original post was a bit sarcastic 😀 I just never understood why other successful Apollo missions were not celebrated too much. I know Omega wants to stay away from LEs that they were criticized for many times and follow the path of Rolex to limit the supply of sought after pieces as they tried first with Apollo 8 and lately with Ed White.
That’s why it will be really interesting what they will show in October

Boutiques and ADs closed so no one to contact. I suppose if you are well connected via past purchases there may be some communication going on regarding deposits, getting on 'the list', etc. This puts Omega USA in a ticklish situation because some people are getting information or getting advised as to how the system will work for getting this watch which puts non-connected people at a disadvantage. I'm sure they are trying to minimize this but business always goes on.

Because who cares about the 2nd mission that landed on the moon?
- Apollo 8: 1st time a human being saw the dark side of the Moon
- Apollo 11 : first man on the moon
- Apollo 13 : human miracle
- Apollo 17 : last man of the moon

The other missions... the general public does not really care. Eventually some people would like to add Apollo 15 because of the lunar rover but that's it. Tintin's comics about the Moon probably have a bigger impact on population than any Apollo mission expect 11 and 13.

edit: any space mission expect those 2 above, Sputnik, Laika and Gagarin in fact...

Not really as they preallocate how many are going to different regions so only the 'US allocation' would be affected

Yes, but if some are able to get on the allocation list before the boutiques reopen they have had an advantage. Now, if there is a good number of watches allocated to the USA then perhaps it won't make a difference. But say only 200 are coming to the USA and 175 jump the gun through their connections and put down a deposit, they have gained an advantage the average person wasn't privy to. It's kind of like insider trading. I'm not saying this is happening, but there is the potential for it, especially if this lock down continues for an extended period of time.
