Anyone have insight on vintage Constellation watch box

That was the quote I was give by GatorCPA, not MY valuation of the addition of the watch and papers. That came from a conversation he and I had, let me clarify.

And I stand behind that comment, but only as a full set. Most of that is in the synergy of having the original box and numbers matching papers.

However, since you've separated the box from the watch and paperwork, most of that extra value is gone with the watch. On its own, it's just another Constellation box.

Watch and papers are not sold and I have a correct box if this box does in fact sell. The value would be unchanged.

As there is no market price for this box I am selling except for the lowball, "you don't want my offer", then I would like to see what the market reply is and not that of one person. Absolutely, nobody from this forum has stepped to give me an HONEST valuation of this box. NOBOBY, because you don't know!! When was the last one of these sold? Could be that I'm not in the "Club" here and that is fine but I can honestly say that I feel that this box is worth more than the regular correct box that without insert in the same condition goes for $200-$250. But yet I get some rude remark.......

The correct box is the one that came with the watch. There is more to "value" than just money. We understand that this is a commercial venture for you. If anyone buys the watch with the "replacement box" and then presents it here, (or any other watch forum) rest assured that we would be happy to tell the new owner that the box is not the one that came with the watch and papers.

Then it's no longer the original set of box and papers that came with the watch, now is it?

What am I, chopped liver? And I guess I'm not "HONEST" either. That's what I get for trying to help. Talk about an insult! 🙁

Just because something is rare doesn't automatically make it valuable. Some might even think that it is not real simply because they've never seen one before. I used to pick up the regular red Constellation boxes for about $50 or so up to a few years ago. Now, I don't need them that badly.

I like to help people, but I do get upset when I think someone is trying to take advantage of someone else. That's what I feel is happening here. Then I feel as if I've been slapped in the face by your snide remarks. But hey, that's the way it goes sometimes.

But yet I get some rude remark.......

Which, quite frankly, I think you've earned.

Rant over now.

I totally agree and understand were you are coming from. You also by looking at my posting numbers underestimate my what I would advertise said watch as. Common thread for the forum, Your is worthless, Mine is priceless. I may not post much but I read a lot!!

I value so much all the information I have gained from each of the senior members of this forum. I am so baffled at times at how you are able to have full time jobs and know so much on these wonderful watches. I love to read and see all about the finds you have obtained and brought back from rust. It is only when I ask a myself or new person does it make my stomach hurt. When the cliche' comes out! If your new, you must know nothing. Just to put it in perspective, I began my love of watches when I was 8, my grandfather had me breaking down old Elgins and putting them together on the weekends.

I know all about breaking up sets. To be very honest with you I do not feel if I listed this watch as I wanted on this site the way I intended it would have sold, period. My valuation of this set all original as it sits is $1400. A price that GatorCPA agreed with. As a new person on this forum, I feel I would have lowballed just like the $50 box offer. I.E. Yours is worthless, Mine is Priceless. I read a lot!!!!

I feel you have been very generous with your knowledge and I thank you. You on this subject were the only one with an insight. Again, I thank you. Thank you for your rant, it was much appreciated also. I take all as a learning experience and take nothing with bad intentions. I apologize if I may have come across in a wrong manner to you. Just because a new person asks does not mean they do not know anything. I don't claim to know everything, that is were most of us are different in the vintage watch world. So I ask, am not ashamed to either.
