Any issues with this 'Sparkle'

Any collective words of advice on the condition and originality of this Sparkle?

Clearly the date is misaligned - could this be just that it is in the process of changing date?

And can I also ask what sort of value this watch would have?

Thanks in advance.

Seems to me the case (stainless steel) is not for that dial and hands (from a gold top?). My two cents

Thanks Spencer. There seemed to be some chat recently here that gold hands could come as standard with the silver dial and case, but I will try to find that snippet of info again to confirm.

Does anyone else have a view as to whether SM "Sparkles" could come with an SS case but gold hands and markers? I have struggled to find a definitive answer although everything points to JohnSteed being right - that the dial and hands come from a gold top case (I shouldn't doubt him!)

With my limited knowledge and minimal research skills, I only find gold furniture with gold cases and, silver furniture with steel cases. Although that may not be the case with all brands. I do have a steel cased Seiko with gold dial furniture, but as it was purchased used I have no idea if it is original. Here is my Seamaster in steel.

It's a nice looking example, here's a gold on gold as well as a silver on silver

These both have chapter rings although not sure that impacts the value

The gold owes me less than the silver but the silver is a 751 chronometer

Recently picked up this recently serviced silver from a fellow forum member for $650

With all the variety Omega produced in this era it's hard to say this is a Franken.

If it isn't original it was certainly done well since the dial and hands match 😀

Besides Silver/Silver and Gold/Gold there were a few other variations of this dial. Watchco sold several a couple years back. This always could be one of those dials.

The dial is legit, whether it came with this watch, I could not say. But it is not the dial for the typical Gold or Gold Filled model.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but does the silver on silver and gold on gold theme apply to all omega watches from the 70s or is it possible to buy a watch with stainless steel case and gold elements on the dial. I bought a 166.0121 with a 1418 movement that has a SS case and a dial that is blue and brown(ish) Google only comes up with that combination for a gold case. Google is not definitive in these matters but it does make me wonder.

🙄 😁

Back to our regularly scheduled event ...

There may be examples out there, but I haven't seen 'em nor seen 'em in a watch that's appealing, looks right etc etc .... Though I'm no expert

Not the subject watch, but just an example that there are many omega over the years that had gold hardware on a stainless watch.

Mine (cal. 750) .... purchased 2nd hand so don't know if it's original but it was into Omega for servicing and they said nothing about it not being original.

That is interesting... Is it a trick of the light, or does your watch have gold furniture on a silver case?

'Tis not the light, gold markers with silver hands. The dial looks identical to my gold case version:

Omega doesn't comment on things like that, from what I've read. If the parts are original Omega parts, they insist on replacing them, but they'll probably not confirm the match either.
