You’re right it’s silly money, especially as it looks like they are still available new from a boutique for a great deal less.
It was listed on ebay several times in last year (if not longer) as well. Same seller. Obviously didnt sell lol
Way out of my price range but the Omega website said to contact a boutique to order. I think in the past when a watch has sold out they have said so. I also believe that with the price of this watch in the first place and appealing to a fairly niche market it is unlikely to resell at a premium. But I may be wrong.
I would never hesitate to buy from Albert. He is a perfect gentleman and knows his stuff...as does everyone in the shop. I've bought at least half a dozen watches from him and when I look for a watch he is my first stop.
agree 100% their stated prices might be high but there is usually room to bargain especially with trades love EWC. . only place i know where you can walk in with a vintage speedmaster and cash and walk out with a new steel daytona and vice versa. yes they make a margin but they stand behind their products and they are so easy to deal with
I agree that EWC is reputable and I don't begrudge anyone making a living. I'm just saying that particular pricing is loco. Good on Albert if he can get it.
I've handled in the metal this watch. It wasn't for me. The retail pricing for this watch is high so the market is going to be thinner anyways. If I was in the market for this watch, I would be willing to wait and shop over a one year period for better pricing.
Just for interest, this came up for auction at Sothebys in Australia last December. I had a look and tried it on - it was being sold by the daughter of the guy who bought it new in 1971, and had almost no signs of wear. Its final price including the buyer's premium came to $A 79,300. Of course it was worth more than the 50th anniversary LE, but still a Hefty price.
They are on Newbury street in Boston, which is like Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. They can ask what they want and get it.
