Another "my Seamaster bracelet is uncomfortable" thread

After wearing Rolexes for the past few years, I sold my last one (BLNR) at a nice profit earlier this year and bought a Seamaster. I've never been happy with the bracelet, and recently having bought a Speedy I realized (again) that Omega can make a comfortable bracelet if they choose to. So I got this nice strap from Holben's and put it on the SMP. I honestly don't think brown and blue go well together, but the wife says it looks great and her opinion matters more than mine. Or yours. LOL.
Still, I'm curious what the crowd thinks.

My preference is a bracelet, but I think that watch would look fine on a NATO, something with a little blue in it. Nice watch btw.

I generally wear mine on the OEM strap or a NATO. I actually think the bracelet is very well-made, but find the watch a bit heavy on the bracelet, where the clasp adds significant bulk and weight. On the rubber (or, indeed your leather strap) it’s sleeker on the wrist and a bit less blingy, both of which I prefer.

I have a love hate relationship with the factory bracelet on my Speedy- looks awesome and the balance is great but it’s a hair puller (and I’m not that hairy). I’ll put it on every couple years thinking my mind will change and it stays on for a day- then back to a strap.
The possibility of the new repro Forstner and Uncle Seiko flatlink project give me hope that I can wear my Speedy on a bracelet once again.

That said, the bracelets on my 60’s Seamaster’s and Connie are like silk. Sometimes they hit, sometimes miss.

Since you asked. Nice watch 👍 Nice Strap 👍 I'm with you, brown and blue do not go well together in this instance no matter who says otherwise. 😀

In general, I don’t think that leather straps belong on modern dive watches. I think this NATO would look great though:

Hmmm. I have the pre-2018 model and find the bracelet to be very comfortable. Actually, between my Speedy Pro, Globemaster and SMPc, the Seamaster bracelet is the best by far. Was the bracelet substantially changed with the new model?

My pre-2018 model (since gone) was more comfortable than the new one. I think it's really the clasp that is pinching me. Too bad, because I like the adjustability.

I know I'm reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally going against the stream of popular opinion, but I don't like the Nato or NATO strap. I don't need the additional height, and I just don't care for the look.

I HIGHLY recommend the OEM rubber strap. I got my Seamaster on the OEM rubber mainly because I dont like the style of the bracelet, but after trying one on with the bracelet, the comfort and weight of the rubber strap was appreciated even more.

After almost a year of having it, the bracelet on mine has hit the sweet spot. It's extremely well-made, but the finish left something to be desired, so I get the turnoff for some.

I have that Omega NATO and find it to be a really good change up for the watch, so I recommend it.

All the above said, the last thing I got for the watch was the OEM rubber; holy crap is it awesome! It's really my preferred option of the three, not only for comfort, but for the contrast against the grey dial (the bracelet can cause a monochrome effect). That said, I've seen complaint by folks with the blue model who feel that the rubber has the opposite effect I described for my grey dial, a monochrome look.

I am not a fan of the brown strap. If none of the OEM options mentioned work for you, maybe try and source something like a sailcloth strap. That would look sharp.

HOLY BATMAN. (R.I.P BLNR)
That brown strap makes your watch standout like a shiny star.

The Crown and Buckle Chevrons might be a good affordable fit for the SMP, or one of the new Erika's Original variants. Both are a bit thicker and softer than the usual NATO fare.

I've never had issue with any of my Omega bracelets. I have however started adding the adjustable clasp to most of my stainless steel models which has increased the comfort even more so! Part number 117STZ001154 I believe.

That said, any watch I've ever bought on bracelet I've always doubled down and purchased as many of the relevant rubber, leather or NATO options as well.

That nato is superb on the blue.

I think grey works well with the Omega blue dialed watches. Brown may work in some formats but I don't like that fabric.

I agree with you, just not a fan of NATOs, I don't like the extra bulk.

I love the old planet ocean bracelet. They feel much more comfortable than other bracelets I had. Also, I do enjoy NATO straps, especially when i do some outdoor activities.
