Been looking for a while now but patience paid off. A suitable replacement for the last of my aircraft clocks which i'll probably list here first before MWR.
Not exactly a subtle post ::facepalm2::

That´s lovely, in really nice vintage shape. The case is also very attractive with the enamelling.

I have a real soft spot for these desk clocks, they have great movements, good period design and offer some of the best value in the vintage watch world.

I have a little something with an 8 day movement on it´s way to me at the moment which I am anticipating greatly. It´s making very slow progress with Cape Post from South Africa as I type this.

    Nice!
[edited : I removed the 1935-39 scanned catalog pages I had posted, as they are available online at the address posted by gator in his later post]

Love the CK921, and of course the teardrop lug VC! BTW, is this the slightly bigger sized 35.5 or 36mm VC case?

I estimate the size of that VC to be 31-33mm.

Almost all of the Hamilton catalogs from 1910-1977 have been scanned and are avaliable here:

    http://www.vintagewatchforums.com/viewforum.php?f=21&sid=debd8e695519629e05f450445eb347fb

While we are on the subject of Hamilton, I have this 0-size (34mm) Hamilton on the way. Probably a Grade 981:

I took a bit of a chance here since there were no movement pictures, although the watch is advertised as running well. Also, no idea if the case is gold filled or 14K. For the price paid, I really don't care.

    Happy weekend!

Thanks for the info on the Hamilton scanned catalogs, I didn't know. Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.... (I have edited my answer to make it shorter and quicker to download ;)). Pity the same complete collection is not available from Omega...

I realy like the cushion shape of your watch, more pictures when you receive it?

That would be nice! Seller says it's gold in color. But stranger things have happened.

I love buying from the West. Seller dropped it in the mail last night and according to USPS, it will be here Monday.

Can't ask for better than that.

    :whistling:
I post extracts when someone posts a pre 1950 Omega. That's my way to encourage people to show their hidden beauties....

A new one that I bought recently and received yesterday (maybe I should re-read the 'condition condition condition' introduction post?). Probably the dirtiest watch I've seen since a long time...

I've cleaned it and made it much more attractive (at least to my eyes!). I've posted some pictures of the result in the vintage watches section...

I had to find a watch to buy to make up for my last Ebay rip off disaster.

The Hamilton arrived today with a bit of a surprise...

Not a Grade 981 movement as originally suspected, but this one:

A Grade 983. Looks to have been originally assembled in 1913, but likely cased and sold several years later.

    http://pocketwatchdatabase.com/search/result/hamilton/1255153/movement

I think Adam78 has one with the same movement. A few more of these movements were made than the later 981's, but only a small fraction were used in men's watches. Case is made by Fahys, which was one of the original suppliers to Hamilton. I don't know yet if this particular case is original to the movement.

    Detail of the dial:

I think this a metal dial version. These came with both porcelain and metal dials.

Not solid gold though, only filled.

Can't have everything, you know. :)

At the "economy" end of the scale.

Arrived yesterday from Oregon, still smells of musty old books and socks.

Bought this on the weekend, first step into vintage watches. Any thoughts? Arrived today, hoping it is legit (aside from new glass etc...)

Like MMMD, I have broken my "no more gold plate" rule. As more than 1/3 of my collection is Zenith, it has been too long since I last bought a Z, so here is number 24. I don't know the reference, but it is an A761? (possibly A7611?) on its original NSA bracelet. At least it answers the question of what the straight NSA end pieces fit.
