Mine let go and I had to re-tension it. Scariest thing I've done in many years.
If it ever goes again I'll be calling a garage door guy.
I did - I know these things are under tremendous tension, so I wasn't going to tackle that myself. $275 for new spring and installation (plus taxes), so not worth me taking the time to do it myself. He also lubricated everything and adjusted the door openers all included. Of all the things done around the house lately that we've paid for, this was by far the cheapest!

My dad's brother in law was killed by one of these things. Yes, leave it to the professionals.

Springs can be very dangerous. Even the mainsprings I deal with in watches have enough force to easily take an eye out if you slip when you are removing them from the mainspring barrel. Clock mainspring are even worse, and one reason why I don't service clocks is that I don't want to deal with the springs - I know a few people who have serious cuts and lasting scars from those.
So there was no way I was going to tackle this myself. Sorry to hear about you dad's BIL...

路Bought some inks... I need to decide what goes in what... So thinking the Aurora Bolearis for my Twisbi Diamond (will look cool), the Herbin for the 146, and the Aurora... I don't know. Was hesitating for the Montblanc.
If so, the Herbin maybe on my Waterman that has a medium nib and is quite wet.
