路I can't work out the coin, though. Their 20/50 and 100 lire gold coins had a bust on the obverse and shield on the reverse ... yours looks like a bird of some kind?

Crowned in 1878 he faced serious problems due to profound differences in the recently unified areas of Italy. He died in 1900 (something about) an attack by the Bresci anarchist(s).

Thanks again for the info 馃憤. I picked it up today. It is dated 1891, and has L 5 on the back side. I am going to guess this means 5 Lire. I鈥檒l also guess that all Italian鈥檚 walked around with Jeweller鈥檚 loupes so they could determine what denomination of coin they got as change from Starbucks.
Online I see similar designs on the silver coins from the era, but no gold like this one (many 20 lira though). I don鈥檛 know coins, it was a lucky auction win. Could you suggest a good website I could use to determine value? My goal is to sell it to help finance a watch. Thanks in advance for whatever you can provide.
The corrosion and poor strike makes me think it's a gaming piece. There's a lack of serifs and other issues. Have you got a magnet to hand? That'll tell you if it's a capped steel gaming thaler.
Here's the coin it's trying to be: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces19047.html
definitely not gold
Yup, with the 2020 models hitting showrooms a lot of dealers are trying to clear 2019 inventory. I've wanted a Subaru for 20+ years but I've been relegated to riving the wife's hand-me-downs. Don't cry for me just yet though. She has good taste and is an extremely low mileage driver, so I've had some nice vehicles over the years. Last was an Infiniti QX56. She had it for 3 years and I've been driving it for the last 7. Alas, it's long in the tooth and the engine is on it's last legs. 170,000 miles on New Jersey roads takes a toll. So now it's my time. Subaru Outback, 2019 2.5i (the most basic) in pearl white.

Congrats. I love my 13 outback. Pretty much bulletproof. I had to wait until they made it for those of us who are big and tall.
