A bit of a bittersweet farewell, this one...

    DSC_0035.JPG

My first good vintage watch and a true bargain to boot. An icon of Constellation-ness, but at some point, something have to give. Have just (unexpectedly) won a "best offer" on a sligthly more interesting Constellation on eBay (I do have a slight suspicion that it may be a redial...) and a load of other expenses are lining up at the moment, so I moved the one piece I have that I knew I could move on short notice. Good price for both me and the buyer, who sometimes come around this place, too.

How about you? We always talk about the new additions to the collection, but show what you have let go - let the therapy session commence :)

I think this is a bad idea. Now you just made me angry that you didn't offer it to me first. Dangerous thread this one...

Don't be angry - it was an old "dibs" which had to be honoured :)

I need to sell some watches. The problem is I'm embarrassed to offer up my n00b mistakes or the ones that looked pretty cool in the auction picture but pretty tacky on the wrist. All the rest I just can't bring myself to part with but I'm trying to reconcile myself to the fact I really need to thin the herd.
I've become like a crazy old cat lady but with watches instead...

Oh yes, we have to honour "dibs". In that case I will just need the adress and the safe combination of the "dibber" :whistling:

I tell my wife that this hobby is about buying and selling watches.
The thing is, I've never actually *sold* one :p

My collection is still small so I have not had to let anything go. I try to buy the watches that I love so it makes it harder to get rid of them. I gifted a 70s constellation f3oo with blue waffle dial to my nephew a few weeks ago. Now his dad, my brother, wants one of my watches too. I am still thinking about which one to give him.

    Can I join your family?

I too am in the small collection club. The only watches I am trying to part with are the "designer" ones that I acquired a few years ago (and am too embarrassed to post here) before I "saw the light". For some reason they do not want to sell:unsure:

We've all been there! It took me at least two or three sell offs over the years to dump all of the, how shall I call them, "lesser specimens"

For me, it was the realization that some watches were just too big for my skinny wrists , so there went my Great White and my Speedy 3594.50.

Which left me with a bunch of 36-40mm watches which suited me just fine! I've learned that that is my sweet spot.

Did you instruct him to not post here asking about this watch his uncle gave him? :D

    :)
Before I gave him the watch, I made him read up on the history of the f3oo series, and the history of the development of the movement and how the technolgy was used in space instruments and satellite dishes. I also made him look at all the variants in AJTT, but that was more and excuse for me to look through the book. He has just started an engineering degree in Gothenburg so hopefully the technology will resonate with him and inspire him to enjoy watches.
