The case back seems to indicate 1941 to 1945. But my take is that this is new production. Done in nephrite jade, also known a African jade, and B C (British Columbia) jade. Interesting, sort of.
Good catch. The "Paкeтa" brand has only been around since 1961. It appears that they still use "CCCP" on watches made after the demise of the late lamented Soviet Socialist Republic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raketa this is, theoretically, the movement:
First part is a name "Ivanov" and initials (N.L.?) N.P., followed by "the sixth". I can't make out the rest.. "40th anniversary". Can't read the last two lines.
I was excited for a moment, I thought that the Russians finally figured out how to make a watch out of a kiwi
Occasion, dress and a place accordingly, aesthetically I like the look of this piece. I’m curious of its styling and stone (Jade/Onyx) and bracelet, case fusing. It appears a uniquely modern (60’s) piece of ‘ladies’ jewelry. Nice though it appears I don’t at this time think it warrants its starting price. (more info required)
Seeing the "extraordinary" description and the watch itself made my brain haywire for a bit there, @Syrte
Extraordinary can have the same double meaning as “breathtaking” or “beyond words”. The southerners in the US are expert at the backhanded compliment using such phrases.
Extraordinary was being used in its original sense.... "quite unique" (ie extra - ordinary = "out of the ordinary")
Exactly, it's no ordinary Raketa, and no ordinary watch. I think it may have been a 40th anniversary gift to Ivanov from some military group he could have been associated with during WWII.
Clearly not in keeping with today's fashion.... but I kind of find it beautiful in its kitchness and I admire the use of jade. A bit like a pharao's treasure.
The second part means « of the victory 1941-1945 » followed by some initials. my take on that is that the 40th anniversary is not of Mr. Ivanov but victory 1941-1945, possibly WWII, which would lead to a watch from ~1980s
I have a pen holder made of similar looking jade which is kind of cool in a 60s/70s way; however it’s mainly used as a paperweight as it’s so heavy. I bet your wrist would be sore after wearing this for any length of time
