Or possibly too many unresolved questions regarding whether it was flown?

I suspect it belongs to NASA

Yes, as written in the original article (here), when I found the watch, I was told by the former Omega curator that NASA is owner of these watches as they were just part of the official astronaut equipment. So everything had to be returned after each mission or test activities. Furrer clearly didn't do so and it ended up somewhere else in the end. NASA is known to have been chasing a number of these watches over the past few years, that's why we removed the official NASA serial number (below the product number) from the case back. I was surprised to see that Bonhams didn't do so as well, as these watches then can be easily traced by NASA.

Oh, and now for a gratuitous radial subdial shot.....

Daft question, but I know they made radial dial 1040 prototypes as well as radial dial 1255 Speedsonic prototypes (including some examples which were sent to NASA as Alaska watches), did they make a production version of the radial dial Speedmaster? Spacefruit yours seems to be a T swiss T dial seperately which leads me to assume that the Speedmaster range also had a production/ commercial available radial dial option?

Cheers Tom

There are 5-6 radial dial versions for different models mainly in the Mark series, not only are they available, Watchco had and probably still has hundreds of them.

It was reclaimed by the Federal Government.

Kate Lacey, and Paul Maudsley, who are part of the watch team at Phillips were joking about it... as they were part of the watch team at Bonhams, when representatives of the US government arrived to take the watch away. 🍿

Thanks for the insights, Chris!
