Dont forget someone has to prove they were the original owner and victim somehow. Most local police will not work on finding your stolen watch, so I am very surprised Bonhams pulled the watch in question.
The company didnt make just 1 more than likely, so playing devils advocate for a sec, are you basing this on the serial number and supporting documentation pf ownership, or just throwing mud because you saw it in an auction and wish it was around?
Please dont take offense... how someone proves ownership is an issue...
Someone could claim they owned it and file a police report but never own it or just sell it privately and try to get it back down the road because of sellers remorse?
Interesting discussion...I will sell my 2998-5 later this year and I bought it from the family of the owner with no documentation.
As far as I know, nobody ever checks those serial number databases of watches stolen.
