Not sure they know. Their Omega prices are all over the place in that catalogue.

It would have to be a real guesstimate, as you don't see many with that sort of provinane.

True, but their prices on at least 2 of their other 4 Omega's look way out (one overvalued, one undervalued) & their estimate on the Ed White is a complete finger in the air "£2000-£3000". Anyone with access to a computer could do better research than that !

Pretty typical of most auction houses that I have come across of late, there was always the come and buy me estimates around but in general they were never to far off the mark.

It will certainly be interesting to see the end price. I wonder if you can ever be assured ownership of a government issued instrument? My guess is that legally it would remain the property of Nasa (?) I'd still buy it if I had the cash though!

I always thought that a 44 mln serial number dated speedies to 1980 (and possibly to 1982). This information dates a 44.8 mln serial number to Oct 1978

    Are they correct?

Reading this, someone is trying hard to get "flown" into the mix. That will make the price rise considerable and more unpredictable. ::popcorn:: Regards, Bill

I've had the opportunity to play with this watch and it is a really nice example. As it doesn't come with NASA papers it will be interesting to see what it will sell for.

Interesting Nasa did not engrave the sidewall of the case
with it's Nasa serial # as they did in the late 60['s

The evidence that it was actually worn in space seems a bit sketchy?

    from the catalog

"It has been well documented that Rienhard wore a Sinn 140 chronograph but we are not sure how and when this particular NASA supplied watch came into his possession."

    That fills me with confidence

Exactly. They push too hard toward "flown".

Caseback or not, I say this doesn't get anywhere close to the auction estimates. I just don't see the market for a Speedy pro that didn't fly on a well known astronauts arm in space. No offense to the German astronaut here. I'll say it goes for around $15000 USD, tops.
