Am I the only one who loves symmetry on hand wound watches?

MRC MRC
Do NOT order anything for home delivery while testing this advice ::facepalm1::

Could be handy though when elections are close and the wannabe politicians are on the doorstep. Unless that one gets elected and remembers you when proposing new legislation about "preverts".
You gotta watch them "preverts"! 😲

Who else is like me and always lines up the crown horizontally on their Speedy (or other hand wound watch) once fully wound (even if it means going an extra revolution if you missed the position by ONE click)!? 👎

Who else makes sure the minute hand is exactly aligned with the minute marker when the running second hits 60!?!?
At least my Flightmaster 145.013 is a breeze to set as there is NO running sec!! 😝

Am I the only one who loves symmetry so much... or am I just a bit too nutty!? 🤪🤦

I do exactly the same, I thought every would. 😁

Are you the type of guy who checks your watch accuracy several times a day?

Gummint's going to make you prove your age before you can watch preverts before long.

And make all RC aircraft flyers pay an annual license fee. 'Cos drones.

As a matter of fact, I do NOT check for accuracy on a daily basis. I can even live with a watch that is around +20sec / day. 😉

Nope, I just like things that are setup properly... at least based on my standards!! 😁

When setting a quartz watch I wait till a fraction of a second before the sweep second hand reaches the 12 before pulling out the crown. The second hand then stays put on the 12 while I set the hour and minute by the Naval Observatory clock.
Only quartz watch I keep running whether I wear it or not, and I very seldom do, is a no name but very nice Japanese movement watch I got for Christmas in the 90's. About as accurate as they come it will run for two to three years between battery changes and is seldom more than a few seconds off in a year's time.
I keep it hanging on the wall next to the bed , easy to see when I first awaken.

PS just did a three week test of my best Pobeda and found it accurate to less than 2 seconds per week.
Won't reset it just yet, I want to see what it does in a full month test.

Wow that's impressive! I stopped monitoring my watches, but my watch loosing a steady 30/sec a day still bothers me. Soon I'll have your nonchalance. 😁

I love symmetry, but I don't line up the crown. I primarily focus how crappy it can look when you put the date window anywhere outside of 6 o'clock on the dial.

Have a pee but avoid putting your knob away after. Try to cope with this disorder. Leave it dangling out of your trousers for at least 1 hour as you continue with your day.

So are you implying that this is normally a bad thing...?

I see nothing symmetrical about the rotational position of a crown, or the angular direction of watch hands on a dial.

Maybe I misunderstood those definitions of "symmetry" when they were beaten into me all those years ago.

I generally like to spend my time and thoughts on other things..... However, if it serves a purpose for you then I am sure it is all worthwhile.

I do that.

No but an unusually, vulnerable, 'todger' does suggest an element of disorder that many obsessive compulsive chaps may struggle to tolerate 😕... I think at the very least it will provide a distraction that may help the sufferer to focus less on the watch crown being a bit 'pissed'???... It's a win win situation Ed! 👍

I feel like the Lemania Tg195 was designed for OCD people like us:

Pressing the button both hacks the movement AND resets the seconds hand exactly to 12; this function was used by Gruppbefäl (NCOs) in the Swedish army to synchronize their watches and thereby coordinate mortar fire for maximal effect. Luckily for the rest of us Sweden is a peace-loving country since... 1814?

As a bonus, the Lemania Cal. 2225 movement is derived from the Cal. 2220, which I believe is related to Omega Cal. 321... a military watch with some Omega soul 😀

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to mention the muscular case is asymmetrical... something something having and eating cake

Hmmm. Makes perfect sense if you are in Australia. By the way, does the water in the toilet actually swirl in reverse down under?
That's actually an optical illusion . Aussie feces swim up stream.
