Am I the only Air King fan?

It’s a little busy, it looks like they threw up 3 watches into one case. Would be much better for me without the applied 3,6,9.

Do I Hate it? No, but I’m quite indifferent to it.

My 48 year old Air-King-Date has me spoiled. Retail price was $215.00 in 1971! I haven’t kept track of the cosmetic changes on the Air-King since those days. But the modern one? Too busy to suit me. Is it offered with a date feature. Even with a date, give me the older models. Not a fan.

If Ryan Gosling is on the forum, he'll probably chime in here.

I can't remember where I heard about his collection, but apparently he especially likes vintage Air Kings.

I like them as well, but I've never owned one...

@Ryan, are you there? Wrist shot? 😁

Whenever I look at this I can't think of anything else but Rolex representation in tennis somehow..Green text Rolex and yellow crown...

I don’t like that it’s the non luminous 3/6/9s - doesn’t make a lot of sense, and makes it look like they just wanted to use up all the bits they had left over from the previous gen Exp I. Sorry, if you like it, that’s all that counts, but personally I think it’s a mess - with an identity crisis .... but they are still a rare find at an AD!

They must have had a lot of “9”s left over from the previous gen Exp I -

Not a fan of the new Air King design. The dial is too busy. Much prefer the simple dial vintage AK.

My 48 year old Air-King-Date. An enduring classic (IMO). Thanks not dust on the dial. The lacquer is beginning to peel after nearly five decades.

I like the vintage Air King. This is probably the first Air King model made.

Friend of mine is a Rolex collector. I showed him this thread yesterday. He recently bought a titanium Tudor Submariner chronometer, but he told me that his choice was between the Air-King, and the Tudor. He LIKES the Air-King! Had I been in his place, I wouldn’t have chosen either the titanium Tudor, OR the Air-King! No accounting for some people’s tastes, I guess.

I'm not a massive Rolex person.. but I do like the modern Air-King (although I agree they should have lumed the 3-6-9), I also like the older version (probably more than the newer)..
I've seen a NOS full set, blue dial the other day, and it looked so cool! very much like a 1st gen. Explorer but with a bit more colour
