Advise on a ST105.003-65 Ed White

In that case jumping straight in with a vintage one is brave. In your situation I would probably get a modern model like a 3570 or FOIS just to make sure I actually liked the design.

Edit: just saw the one above, 145.022-69 presumably, that does look good...
A lot of my watch collection is modern but I’m swaying away more these days and vintage is appealing. More pitfalls I know but hopefully with the advise from everyone on OF and a bit of luck something decent will pop up.

Your in the UK right? Therefore any watch you buy can be sent to STS for service.
Take your time, if you're looking at c.£10k, you can definitely buy a decent 321 Speedmaster with some patience.

+1

Take your time…understand your quarry

Assess what is out there……tread carefully

When the right one appears… Strike fast, with confidence

And pay what is needed…it’s the difference between ‘winning & whining’

Yes in the UK, I have Simon Freese work on all my pieces now. He did a lovely job on my 1960 SM 2913-8 I acquired last year. Patience I have ;0)

Open to all sorts..... 105.012..... Ideally under 10k

Now there's a lovely dream mate! I'm sure you'll find a lovely piece.👍 You're only looking for one. When you find it, it would be nice if you could bring it to Time4apint in London so we can all enjoy it

Aaaaah Jonathan ... how are you going to continue to visually treat us when you eventually sell that beauty?!
Ahh lovely words.😟
I'm determined that, if possible, it will pass to somebody on the Forum Eugene.😀

They might be stingy codgers and we may never see it again! Hopefully the young replacement will be worthy of being flashed 😀

Yes I think a nice, 1970's, 145.022 will look lovely on my 1171/633.😉. At the moment I'm enjoying some quality wrist time with it.😀

Best advice is always to watch the private sale section of this forum. This is where you’ll find the best Speedies at reasonable prices.
Or place a WTB. I got this one due to my WTB post.

I think that the 10k range is very reasonable if you're looking for a 145.012 or even a 105.012 (maybe not a perfect box and papers one 😀) especially if we are talking British pounds. I think that a nice Ed White for that budget is going to be more difficult, you'll have to know what you are looking at... But of course everything is manageable

I'm just browsing on my phone so I don't want to comment on the details of this watch. Suffice to say that if it is correct it will go above your £11,000 budget.

How’s that? It is on BIN, if you want it, buy it. Its heavily polished with a modern? Telemetre bezel, nice but about worth about £2.5k less than a good DON. Decent watch for the price, dial and hands look OK. If you have a DON put by that may be a cheap watch.

Ah, then if it's heavily polished it's not all correct (I did put a caveat in there).

I am sorry but I am pretty sure it is a vintage telemeter bezel? The numerals cut into bezel ring, the E seems to have shorter middle stroke?
Per this thread I identifyied it as vintage one at least...

Notice the difference between my quoted text and my post? I changed my mind as I was typing and warmed to it a little despite the heavy polish.

The bezel may we’ll be a 60s one but the reality is they are worth less than a DON. A lot less. My ? Indicated that I wasn’t sure but the price difference figure is probably right either way. That is a pretty decent watch for the asking price if you can live with the polish and the fact it hasn’t got a DON. I probably could but am not in the market for another EW at present!

Ah okay, I thought that they fetch the same as they are more rare but less desireable.

Mostly I just thought that because there was recent sale for decimal bezel for 2500 that was in worse shape than lot of DONs sold for that kind of money, I am pretty new to this whole bezel business, so I guess I just took that one special bezel sample size and applied it to all.

Well if that is the case then that watch is very cheap but I have my doubts to be honest.
