Normally you can see some Swiss Made in the south end. Here I don't see anything, maybe wrong tension ring or something?

It's a stunner. Love the even patina on the dial and for me it looks best on the bracelet. As long as you can verify it's been serviced I think you have a winner 👍

Seller ask 1400 euro head only
1550 with metal bracelet
1650 with original box and metal band.
Do you think these are good price for this piece? Many thanks

I hate to comment on prices as they seem to fluctuate like crazy for nice examples of piepans. Your watch pictured however does look like a keeper so most likely is worth the money with the bracelet. The box? Ah if it was me I would let him keep the silly box. 👍

It seems nice enough, but if you look closely in the over-exposed photos of the movement and caseback you can see the rotor has rubbed. If that has not been fixed you should get a service ASAP.

In my opinion there are better dials out there for that price. Look at the lacquer, especially at the indexes, some deterioration has begun. A service without docs is almost worthless. Proof must be presented an I expect an almost flawless dial for that price. Case looks good though.

I would not pay that much for that watch.

That is the price for a mint ss Connie.
The dial has spots (not nice patina in my books, nice patina is a nice yellow shade of the background) and the case appears to be unpolished but its quite battered.

Pass based on the prices asked.
Also, as others said, no service papers means no service. I can see what appears to be a new gasket but the caseback has remains of the old gasket. If it was serviced properly I would expect my watchmaker to clean that up.....

LE: this was mine for comparison (not the same ref but you can see the good dial).......I paid under a 1k for it. I just serviced it after I bought it as there was no service history.

In Europe, I haven’t seen such a example for cheaper since a while. I’m not saying it’s a bargain, but I would say it’s the average price for such an example.
In my opinion, dial may be better in real life. Cas has seen some polishing, but still ok to me

Hi there thanks for the info, I've been looking for a nice Constellation for a while now but seems difficult to find one with a good condition dial.
All the ones I see on sale are all over the 1500 euro mark and the dial si pretty much poor, even the expensive ones over 2k to 4k have dial issue such as discolorations, oxidation, spots. is hard to find a good one. 🙁

Now those are pictures to evaluate a watch.

$4-500 on the high side, but a dealer's gotta eat, and they did your leg work.

Enjoy with bracelet and one to remember down the road.

Service it

Welcome to vintage

Just take your time and look for a private sale. Also, check here on the forum, some good watches are offered on a regular basis.

I tend to feel that the OP watch is honest, but has condition issues that would only make it attractive at the right price. The right price is different for each buyer so there will be differing opinions, but it's not the type of watch that I would want to pay a premium for.

I don't think the price is unrealistic, but it is not a price or condition that makes my heart beat faster.

I would buy something better for around the same price - and have done so recently - but I know where to look and what to look after. This to me doesn't look like a newbie getting fleeced.

I think it a fair watch at a fair price.

If you can get it on the bracelet for €1300-€1400 you've not done badly.

Leave the box and the hobby strap with the seller.

Seems like a fair price. Nice 168.005. Ask for a picture of the box, cause it’s probably the wrong one

GL!
