Advice for buying from overseas private seller?

Hi, I'm looking to purchase from a private seller in France. I've checked out the watch and am quite certain it's legit. I've obtained some "proof of life" photos / videos and I've asked the seller to do the transaction through Paypal. Is there anything else I should be doing to protect myself?

You can run a Google search on his name and email and also ask if he has any references anywhere, does he have any posts on any forums?

Use good credit card for paypal transaction in case of dispute.
I prefer American Express, have also had good customer service with Chase Visa.
Provides another layer of protection, in construction we called it "the double rubber".

Skype might also be an alternative. You can get him to bring the watch up to the webcam to double confirm he's got it... Yep, I've done that before

So things are moving forward. He plans on using the French company Colissimo for shipping. Has anyone dealt with them before? How will the taxes be calculated if the final destination is New York?

Knowing the French it will be slow - everything is slow!

There could also be 3rd party broker fee's for 'handling' the shipment

Ita a medium fast post service main use inside europe country. Like use USPS to ship from US to EU.

Not to worry you.... but we sent a colissimo box to our friends in NJ last August and it arrived in November. It had also been crushed nearly flat and re-taped so it was probably opened by someone. 👎

I've had 3 packages from France (to Australia) via Colissimo.

No problems at all.
