I would go for this one. That’s the type I got on my SM600.

What year is your SM600 dated to?

I took a risk and ordered a buckle that was sold on its own for 25 GBP. While I followed the guidance in this thread, I cannot be sure of its authenticity.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me please ? If it is a fake it would be a good lesson for me to learn why 😀.

One thing that makes me doubt is that the edges on the sign are not as sharp as they could be.

Asian made fake, I’m afraid.

Acier Inox should be two words, not one. It also means stainless steel, and the buckle is gold-plated.

Thanks for the help,

The more I look at it in my hands - and on a strap - the more obviously fake it feels. The seller was a watch part dealer with 100% feedback. I don't think there a point to writing a negative review if I could have avoided this by looking at the photos more closely.

Every day is a school day. The search continues.

Ask for your money back then. He/she should have known. Another place to do an easy check in the future is the thickness of the springbar. That spring bar is cheap and thin, whereas all of my vintage buckles have impressively thick springbars 👍

Thanks! Another lesson learned about omega buckles.

Don't worry, my self-deprecating lasted all of 5 seconds before I asked for my money back 😜

I’m not sure a “B” type buckle like this has been posted yet, here is one that resembles many of the fakes but appears to be authentic, 1960ish???

I have had that one come on a 90's omega leather strap. I've seen them fitted on some Speedy Reduced from that time as well. Its real!

Great thread! What a wonderful read from top to bottom.

I recently bought a SM600 concentric dial (ST 135.011, Cal. 601, 1965). No original strap, buckle nor box, though.

Do you happen to know which buckle might be period correct for my watch?

My Google image research indicates the following:

* Buckle
(a) special buckle by EK a.k.a. dynamic buckle (stainless steel),

(b) some oblong buckle (stainless steel) by MG, or less likely by EK.

Have any of you owned SM600 concentric dial watch, which had had a period correct buckle? Are the buckles similar to other Seamaster's of mid-60's?

@omegastar , what are your thoughts on this?

Hello,

Following up on the topic: I found a 135.011 reference, with a different dial variant than what I have, sporting an oblong buckle.

Do you think the the sellers claim is valid that the buckle is original, i.e. period correct and matches Ref. 135.011?

Could I set this buckle as a benchmark to start hunting for my watch?

Can you confirm if this is MG buckle? Difficult to judge, because the underside is not visible in photos nor video.

Thanks,
Rait

There’s a UK dealer on eBay who sells those by the hundreds, he’s called vipstyle1984, I think. In fairness, he does sell them as non-original aftermarket parts, I think they are about 10£. I can imagine someone figured there’s money to be made, bought a couple and sells them one by one now, claiming originality. As long as those who know just avoid him/her and those who don’t are happy buying them for what seems like a good price, this will probably go on...

Hello friends,
I just bought this watch, I am not sure whether the buckle strap is genuine or fake? I thank you when someone responds.I just bought this watch, I am not sure whether the buckle strap is genuine or fake? I thank you when someone responds.

Hello All, I am on the hunt for a solid gold 12 or 12.5mm buckle, and will likely be hunting for a while. In the meantime, I will have to settle for plaque. There seem to be a lot of fake 12 mm plated buckles out there on the bay. I have found two that look good to me and would be grateful for a second set of eyes. I have bought from the seller in Russia on the first buckle and he does not handle fakes. I know this is real, but I am not fond of it. The second one seems to have the right markings and the pin looks good. I am completely unsure about the third one since there are no photos of the back. I have requested them.

I am leaning towards the second one, but would value any input on veracity and condition that you may offer. This is not a WTB for solid gold, but any advice on that front would be appreciated as well.

Update: I found a Gold One!
