So pleased to have this information that you have provided for us omegastar!

Thank you!

You did a tremendous job creating this forum thread.

I would love an original Omega buckle or two to outfit a couple of watches but have been leery of Ebay which is my most accessible source. Some additional study of this thread will at least arm me for the quest.

Excellent write up - thanks a lot!

My humble tribute to this thread:

This is a very early unique buckle which I consider to be authentic Omega and not a fake.

It came installed on a NOS vintage strap from a bunch of strap/buckle units of a retired watchmaker who cleared out his old stock.

This is the first and only buckle of this type I ever saw with the Omega branding on the side.

From the other straps and buckles it should be from the late thirties through mid fourties...

My observation: Alle the older buckles (at least pre 1948) did not have any Omega logo attached or etched.

Hi,
Here are some pictures of a buckle that I have good reasons to think is original to the strap and 1936 T17 Omega to which it is attached. No Swiss origin indicated no manufacturer name...

Marine standard buckle

Yes Thomas, I forgot to add this - you are correct, they seem to have been used on watches from the 30ies through mid 40ies.

They are available in various sizes, the largest I have is for a strap size of 18,3 mm !

I think these huge examples have been used on larger watches like the 33.3 chronographs...

What strikes me is the accent on the e of Oméga. In French you don't put the accents on capital letters. On the other hand my guts tell me it is legit. It is a AW. buckle because of the profile and the marking in inverse direction but without the logo. It will fit in "the missing link or buckle " paragraph as the ancestor of AW. buckles.

Would you have a macro of the other marking, is it EK. ? Is this the ancestor of EK. Buckles ?
Very nice !

In case you're interested, the B-marked buckles are made by Banda. That's their symbol.

I have literally always avoided looking for authentic buckles because I knew I didn't know jack... This is what humans must have felt like when they first discovered fire. Ebay here I come!!!

Sometimes the buckle is attached to a bracelet which is attached to a watch.
Good hunting.
