Looks like they let it go, there's a line that says, "An identical bezel for this model is no longer available."

But I am not a German speaker, someone who is will need to translate. 馃榾

You guys think the service guys know every watch? You think they pull an extract on every watch sent in?

I see no reason for a non expert in this model to think it鈥檚 fake.

Bla bla bla, i know the guy who sells the watch. He send me this sheet from Omega. So, what is now fake? Who knows it better? Your bookworms or whatchmaker by Omega? Every Number is correct (sheet and card)
I find it bit weird that someone that never posted on the OF finds so much interest in defending the seller. Maybe you are the seller?馃槜 I think that I trust more the expertise of Collectors on this forum that Watchmakers at Omega that often have no clue about the vintage model they are dealing with.

Many years ago, in another life, I was employed in a very dangerous activity starting with IED.

During training one day, one of our group raised the issue of a report that detailed "a better way".

Our instructor looked at the four of us and quietly said:
"Just believe the people who've done the real thing gentlemen, not the ones who write about it. You'll live longer."

While the parallel is tenuous, I know who I'd believe in this scenario.

I think, when the watch serviced by Omega himself, there is originsl and not fake. Omega know the own watch at the best. Thats my opinion....

You give Omega far too much credit. The watchmakers at the service centers (larger service centers at least) don't typically even see the case, because they only work on the movements. It's people who are hired off the street and trained how to take the movement out of the case, remove the hands and dial, and they send the case off to the refinishing department. The movement is the only part the actual watchmaker touches.

The case is refinished, again by people hired off the street and given on the job training, and when they are done the movement, case, etc. go back to the same people who initially took it all apart to put it all back together. If you think any of these people, who are under time pressures just to meet their quotas, and to get the job done and out the door, are taking the time to carefully analyze case parts for authenticity, you are dreaming. No one is pulling extracts on the vintage watches that are coming in...

So in fact it's very possible for Omega to service a watch like this, and no one would have any clue that the case, dial, etc. is all fake.

If you believe the story and want to buy this watch, that's completely up to you, but now that the serial number is out there if you ever try to resell it, you will likely have a hard time, at least with any collector that knows better.

Cheers, Al - watchmaker and fan of the SM120's

That everything that is being written in this thread is in your interest as a potential buyer to take notice of. I simply don't understand your defensiveness.

I'm still wondering where that bezel is coming from. Was it replaced during service and is it a original omega replacement? I thought they did'nt make these anymore. Just curious

To @Speedimaster, when @Archer is saying the bezel is 100% not omega (and if somebody knows, @Archer is the one) you also know you're buying something that is (at least partly) non omega authentic (fake). Of course you still can buy it if you like the watch, but you will have problems if you decide to sell it later. A collector wont touch it. General public wont know (if you decide to not disclose this crucial fact) but you have the obligation to tell them. And if you do, most of them wont buy it also. And even if it was a original omega replacement, you still have the problem It's not a original 60's bezel. Not to mention the rest of the watch (case, dial, movement, hands).

Other thing, nowadays you get a extract really fast. This way you can check if that movement belongs to a 120. It will cost you EUR 110 but than you have a bit of security. At least regarding the movement.

If it where me, I would run away from this one.
