A puzzling OMEGA Constellation watch

To be honest, this is the first time I have seen this watch. I checked the movement number on the back with no luck. And I found that the movement and the back case numbers are also different.

Perhaps you'd like to introduce yourself?

Looks like a correct caliber 1111 movement.

Many of these were delivered with a solid case back so the different serial numbers doesn't seem like much of an issue, at some point in it's 36-year life someone likely switched backs.

Thank you for your reply! I am just a new vintage Omega fan, so I am very confused as to the authenticity of this watch as I have not found it on Google or anywhere else. Similar model but with different dial or different hands. I doubt very much that this is a counterfeit.

We have someone posting the exact same model here some years ago. There are pictures of two of them there.

What I don’t know is whether the case serial number and the movement serial numbers are supposed to match. On earlier Omegas, they did not match, but were close. That changed later on, but I don’t know when.

But I see nothing wrong with the watch in question other than a possible replacement back or movement.

Hope this helps,

I bought one like that online some years ago from a respectable dealer in Japan, then discovered that the number on the case was not the same as the the one on the movement, so I sent it back. I just assumed that the movement had been replaced at some stage.

The numbers are close, but not being the same obviously worried me enough not to hang onto it.

I think you're right. I don't dare keep a watch when I'm not completely sure, even if I love it very much。

I know it's not my money, but you're going to pass on an otherwise nice and correct thirty-six year old watch because the case back might have been replaced?

I asked a shop that specialises in repairing omegas and they told me that omega hadn't come out with a watch with this dial to match. It looks like the watch may have been assembled at a later date so I gave up.

White dial with gold time dots and silvered bezel. Perhaps they had indeed never seen this before, but I was still concerned.

I've been doing a little searching as I've never seen a straight lug Manhattan like that. It seems they are rare but legit. Most of the images I was able to find of course take me right back here to Omega Forums. Everything on the OP watch looks like an authentic Manhattan to me.

Here is a white dial one with a gold bezel. Check out the comment on page 2 by @mondodec. I'm assuming he's the same Desmond running the Constellation blog (last link) below.

Another weird one...

For when you actually live in Manhattan.

Thank you for your help. I have to say this watch is very odd indeed, I have seen many other types of mouldings but the dial and silver sides are odd. I am actually debating whether I should keep it or not, perhaps it is a very rare watch indeed.
