I think you are not comparing like with like. A 71 speedmaster is not the gullwing of watches it isn't even the gullwing of speedmasters. More like an MGB. Coupe.
And the work done is more like changing the wheels and interior, rather than a set of flared arches.
My analogy can't reach to cover the case polish, I admit, but I wanted to bring some reality to the situation.
I don't think our ability to source and own a -71 has been affected, nor do I feel the pool has been noticeably reduced.
Take a gullwing out of the market, that's a different story. Do the others rise in value I wonder?
