Hi All,

I ran across this Railmaster for sale locally today and wanted to get your feedback. Caseback stamped 2014-6. Case is pretty toast, pretty polished but movement looked good and nice dial. I think second hands and crown are wrong but price is nice ~5K usd. What do you guys think?

Was only able to snap a few quick photos:

Check the inside and amag cage, inner cage back, and get the money. Kind regards. Achim

The hour and minute hands are indicative of an earlier RM, 2914-1 thru 3 perhaps. Second hand is incorrect. The minute hand lume appears too long. Perhaps not a RM hand?

It looks like a Mk1 with an amazing dial at a first glance. (Lume issues maybe) By all means I am no expert on these...

Besides the wrong second hand, the BA handset is absolutely wrong. Both hour and minute hand to short/narrow and as gemini4 also said, wrong lume area. And yes, should properly be a dauphine handset on a -6 ...
... and not sure I like the lume plots. Looks overfilled a few places.

Compare to this

Are the correct parts for these readily available ? I see crowns and handsets for Speedmaster and Seamaster reasonably often (albeit at a price), but railmaster parts don鈥檛 seem to turn up so frequently.

Inner caseback is 2914-6. Wouldn't let me take a photo of the movement but looked clean. Serial was early 2M. I didn't think BAs were right for a -6.

What do you think @kox is off with the dial?

As said the plots looks overfilled at places. Might be traces after lume touch-up or relume... or might just be lume floating or radium damage! The lume just usely is a bit recessed/crumbled on these dials. I would get a UV shot and better close-ups. Just a yellow flag to check up upon IMO.

Probably caliber 286 which IMHO is proper for a 135.004-63. Caliber 285 is generally found in a 2914-6.

Yes it was a 286 caliber. So sounds like a bit of a dog. Such a shame, it actually looks really nicely on the wrist.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input as always 馃憤

For less than 5k it would be ok. Both calibers are fine for a that reference. But would need factory excerpt for starters. And the back engraving intact/ not too shallow. I'd have offered to swap the BA hands for the correct ones .....kind regards. Achim

I couldn't make out the back engraving. Maybe with a loop but its pretty much gone.
