Will this new Spirate thingy improve isochronism and/or reduce delta? Or, will it just make regulating (centering the mean rate) easier?

Excellent questions.
I imagine ischronism won't necessarily be improved although when one looks at how the mechanism interfaces with the new design of the Hairspring, it's quite intricate.
Maybe all of the above to some degree?
Sort of the Silicone hairspring equivalent of an Overcoil.

I like this a lot more than a puppy dog doing circles on a caseback that you don’t see….
The honeycomb dial looks good. Black and yellow will appeal to some.

Not buying it but I like it….

Back of mind I can see the new system added to the 3861 Speedmaster by the end of the year with a $1000 increase 😗

I wonder how quickly they'll flow this into other models (hopefully the 57 with a white face and blued hands)

It'll be interesting to see what actual users see. I'm perfectly happy with my new Seamaster which is pretty much +4 seconds per day no matter what: wearing, dial up, down, sideways, etc. What this means to me is that when I send it to @Archer in five or six years, it will come back +/-1 SPD like the other watches he's serviced.

I read this on Time & Tide:

Understandably, the new Spirate™ System is not being rolled out across the entire catalogue at launch. For now, it is strictly available in the new Omega Speedmaster Super Racing watch, with its new Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920 calibre, which has launched alongside the new Spirate™ System. Omega CEO Raynald Aeschlimann explained at the launch event earlier today that there are, of course, new watches on the way. But these new watches are not primed to use the Spirate™ System. Once new calibres have been developed, which use the Spirate™ System and can accommodate the various sizes and designs of Omega’s cases, then it will be gradually rolled out into next generation pieces. So, do not expect the Spirate™ System to be used throughout the catalogue roster for some time.

Not clear at this point. Until more detailed numbers are available, we are left guessing...

When I see an update on the Extranet, I'll let you know.

Speedmaster fans went over 60 years with the basic and functional 321/861/1861 movements, and they still enjoy them today. The line was freshened up in 2021 with the more accurate 3861, along with a price bump. If they are going to ask for anything close to $1000 for this slightly better rate it would be a hard pass for me. I have no interest in slightly better accuracy, not sure the market does either at that price.

With you there, 1861 has me happy….
Big box and chunky bracelet was a $600+ upgrade after I bought mine in 2013

Is there an increase in PR to accompany this new spring?

The contemporary "arms race' in watch world seems to be as much about PR and stated service intervals as it is about accuracy.

Yep. And my 1861 runs as accurately (though not so long) as do my 8800 / 8900s.

Service intervals have been like crickets chirping for years….heard plenty about it but nothing written.
New spring isn’t stopping oils drying out on the rest of the Watch movement 😗

Oddly the service for a moonwatch just went up $300 in my neck of the woods……

Slightly better rate? I guess that's one way to loom at cutting the deviation more than in half...🤦

My 3861 runs consistently at +2/day, what practical improvement will this new development give me? Might be interesting to an experienced watch mechanic like yourself, but to the guy in the street, not so much. Especially if it increases the price.

It's okay, not everyone gets the statistical significance of this...

Personally, I would much prefer much improved overall QC over PR covering specific parts.

Good point
But we will find out in due course. After all it's not just the purchase price, as Omega servicing may well start creeping up even more because Omega will become the only game in town👎

It's an industry wide trend with spiralling purchase prices for brands like GS for example and it's largely a case of having to send the watch back to the mothership for regular servicing.
I suppose they're all entitled to turn a dollar any way they can😉

Yesterday I was wondering just how many people that wear watches these days actually value improved or optimised accuracy and how many just like to wear something that looks and feels good on them and not give a thought to anything much else.
