Watching the marshals out on track getting debris while cars circulate under VSC, the cars are so unpredictable with sudden rear locking and snap spins at any speed, it’s happened to Lewis, to Max, and to Oscar on his way to the grid in Australia…

If one of these cars snaps and loses control at VSC speeds, there’s going to be a dead marshal. Similarly if there is a digger on track it could lead to a Bianchi situation.

They really need to can the VSC for now and only put people or equipment on track under full safety car when car are at the other end or red flag, it’s just too dangerous when the cars are this unpredictable.
I cannot fathom why they're putting Marshalls on track with live cars this year.

You're correct, it won't end well.
Looks like Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were cancelled
F1-free April. Maybe Williams will show up with Not A Tractor in May and Aston will have enough batteries for a weekend by then?

Maybe they can schedule a "pop-up" race at one of the legacy circuits. Brands Hatch? Kyalami?

That's not living, it's a suffering existence!
Sadly the poor bastards probably don't know any better.
Same can be said for a lot of Americans...

A couple races in so far and I have to say, I don't like these new regs. These overtakes don't feel exciting when they just yo yo back and forward on battery management and coasting at the end of the straights.

On the Sky feed, Ant made the comment "I want these battery graphics to stay on the screen because this is what it's all about" and I couldn't disagree more. If you can't understand what the cars are doing (or going to do) by watching them and have to consult a battery graphic, that's a problem with the sport.

Everything else about the regs is great, it's just the excessive battery management and the automatic slowing down on straights that I think is a disgrace to the sport. I hope they address it.

One real positive so far, Jamie Chadwick is a massive upgrade over Danica Patrick.

She has far more knowledge and expertise, gels with the other presenters well, and doesn’t feel the need to fill dead air with word salad constantly.

Just finished watching the sprint and noticed the battery graphic more than I feel I should have to. I suppose I’m now empathizing with drivers. As a spectator what am I supposed to do with this battery information?

Yeah Jamie's good, and Bernie has been the best add to the team in years.

I'd love to see F1 at Brands again but....

..... the last championship race there was 1986, almost 40 years ago. It's too narrow, pits & paddock tiny by F1 standards - and there is very little room for expansion without moving major roads, schools, houses, etc. Won't happen.

I was there for the 1983 European GP and at Donington for the 1993 European GP but at both there was a feeling that time was nearly up for full-house F1 races. Kyalami has the same problems with even less expansion room.

Big shame.

Why would they not know any better?? China leads the world in alternative energy production.

Clearly there isn't all that much alternative energy being used in Shanghai and as that city has been a pollution hotspot for many years, many of the locals won't have much experience of cleaner air.......so of course they would not know the difference. It's one thing to lead in alternative energy, but quite another to apply it locally..........a lot of it is exported in the form of electric cars, solar panels, lithium batteries, etc.
So the locals still get to be able to chew their air!

Today's race was much better, less obvious battery yo-yo overtakes on the straights and a lot more interesting wheel to wheel action, especially between the Ferraris and Alpine/Haas. One of the best podiums I've seen in years too, awesome stuff. Nothing against Charles but I'm glad it was Lewis up there with Kimi and Bono.

You must live in Shanghai and are local to the city? I live in Los Angeles. I assure you, the locals here are fully aware of the quality of air whether good or bad.

Is this the coolest F1 related watch of all time? My opinion, yes. Open to other suggestions. 😉
