This is also make or break for Horner, if this doesn't work out he is on thin ice with RB management.

I've heard through a semi-reliable source that it's all about the money. Lawson brings in quite a bit more than Tsunoda. This was a big reason Checko was able to hang on so long.

But yeah, Lawson's likely on a short leash.
The idea that Lawson brings in more cash than Yuki is interesting and appears unlikely. His helmet carries a Zuru logo (which looks like a former NZ toy brand now headquartered in China), but his webpage lists mainly smaller NZ industry sponsors (a local car dealership group (Giltrap), construction equipment suppliers (Porters) etc), that pale in comparison to multinationals like Honda, Marina Bay Sands, financial services/brokerages XM Trading & GMG Brokers, and others backing Yuki (bottom of the page).

In the end, you're right that money played a part based on rumors RBR came back to Honda asking for the money that was on offer last year to swap him back in for Japan.

Horner's main asset is being a dick on Drive to Survive. With enough money, maybe RBR can lure Toto.

Toto is worth $1.8 Billion, he isn't going anywhere. I think the new dick in F1 is Zak Brown, he's a real shit stirrer.

Horner is very difficult to get rid of as evidenced last year.

Don't disagree about him being a dick though.

It’s only FP1 so far but… Yuki is looking a whole lot more comfortable in taming that Red Bull than Liam did, he’s looking genuinely quick from the get-go.

Well i think Yuki's performance is very encouraging as not only was it closer to Max than Perez was at a fraction over a 10th of a second. But it is on another planet compared to Lawson, so much for all Lawson's big talk about being better than Yuki. I noticed that Lawson also couldn't beat his complete rookie team mate Hadjir. Sorry but Lawson's comments and attitude just really rubbed me up the wrong way this season and it will take quite a bit for me to like him again.
