That's a bit silly.. You're completely ignoring the other energy sources on board that could virtually power an F1 car around a cool-down lap if needed.
Paint? Most teams got over that problem a long time ago
..maybe you have a sight impairment or have monochromatic vision or the like (and I completely understand if you have)
..or perhaps you're watching in black and white, but most teams are painting (circa 6kg) their cars ..they're often very colourful👍
Assuming they are charged and haven’t been used in the race, not a good plan.

Beneath him. Glad he has a seat but I hope he can get into a front running team soon, or at least for 2026.
I saw something that said he has a special clause in his contract that says he can leave Williams if Mercedes or RB offer him a seat.

but it is.

The car has a minimum weight after the 2.8l or whatever of fuel is removed for testing which is not optional. The issue was AMG weighed the car before the fuel sample was removed for testing.

Mercedes made an error. At least two other time in the past decade drivers have been DQ’ed for not having that much fuel left at the end of the race.

2.8L is correct, nearly three times the mandatory 1L sample

Sainz signs with Williams. Sounds like a 1 yr. deal with an out clause for RB & MB.

From you earlier “That's a bit silly.. You're completely ignoring the other energy sources on board that could virtually power an F1 car around a cool-down lap if needed.”
The other sources would not work if they are depleted.

I think Mercedes has now replaced Ferrari as the leader in the circus clown show. Under fueling and now under weighting cars is not helping them in the constructors. Ferrari has now gone 2 races without a screw up.

Tinfoil hat on but I really don't think Mercedes just accidentally screwed up. My conspiracy theory brain is thinking Mercedes purposely had George's car underweight not thinking he was going to podium and hoping he wouldn't get selected for weighing.

Once George won, look at Toto's reaction. He didn't seem too happy for getting a 1/2 finish like he knew this was going to happen as soon as George crossed. Then they tried to leave additional fuel in the car for the initial weighing hitting the 798kg minimum hoping to skate by.

Alll cars are weighed and all cars submit the fuel sample.

I believe it was a genuine mistake .. yes, Toto didn't seem too happy initially, but then had a big grin on his face

I always thought it was randomly selected with podium finishers getting more scrutineering but learned something new.

Frankly, Toto always looks a bit unhappy
Billionaires have a tendency to look unhappy.

I saw that. It was a brief shot, but he was pretty stressed out then feigned a smile. I didn't make any sense at time. Now it makes total sense. "Tire whisperer" my ass. The car light and he knew it.

I think it’s fairly obvious what happened with Russell’s car - they weren’t planning on a one stop race. This meant they never had the chance to chuck some ballast in at a second stop, like some spanners or wrenches that were hanging around the garage. They clearly chucked some into Hamilton’s car as he could be heard complaining about there being something loose down by his feet during the race 😉

As for what being 1.5kg under the mandated weight was worth to Russell, Brundle put that down to “2.5 seconds” for the entire Grand Prix.

But it was a Grand Prix where the top three were decided by a margin of just 1.173 seconds.

“I calculate 1.5kg to be worth around 2.5 seconds over the course of the race, and the top three were covered by 1.173 seconds, but that’s oversimplifying it to say the least as there are a multitude of other factors at play,” he said.

“It’s totally conceivable that Russell going onto a surprise one-stop strategy, with good grip and balance using all four tyres hard, that they could easily be a combined 1.5kg lighter.”

I lol'd when he said that about there's something loose down his leg/foot. I texted my friend who was watching that Lewis was bragging about his size.
