Started working in 1985.
If you didn't buy something there and then you had to be prepared to pay more the following week.
So you bought it there and then but come 1991 you got a discount and had all the time in the world to make a decision.

I added a Reverso to my collection two years ago, and the price has gone up almost 40% since then. Yeesh. Glad I bought it when I did.
Yes JLC have set a world's record in price rising. Which is a bit strange because their watches are not so popular.

Too rich for my blood. To think, 6 years ago I paid half this (albeit for a less advanced 1861).

Yep.

IIRC. my FOIS was CAD 4850.00, and worth every penny. It runs beautifully, is as charming as it was when I first popped it on, and still surprises me across different lighting conditions.

I don't think there's any way I buy a version of it, even with a superior movement, at CAD 10k after taxes.

Can't wait to pay 10K for a new speedy next year.
I purchased the refreshed 2022 speedmaster 57 right before the increase early this year. Received about a 10% discount from the $8600 list price then waited months for it. It went up to $9000 right after I secured my order. That same watch just went up again to $9500 list price. So Omega has raised the price almost 1k on this reference in 6 months. Hard to believe next year it will be 10k or more. 🤮

The RRP on my Speedmaster 38 when I got it this time 3 years ago was £4100.

Just checked and it’s now gone up to £5200!

£1000 increase in 3 years for the exact same item in plentiful supply is crazy!

Green Seamaster is $5600US. I don't think that's too much more than before or they haven't updated the US site yet. I just don't remember the price.
They went up $300.00 USD.

That $5600 was from much earlier in the year. Wasn't aware there was a second increase until a couple of weeks ago here which now appears to have taken affect.

I’m not sure when the price changed, but I know the large Reverso Duo was $9600 in June of 2021 and is now $13,300.

I was also looking at the Master Control Chronograph Calendar in January of this year. I believe it was $17,400 then and is now $19,100, so a significant increase, but not as extreme as what you may have seen.
Holy crap you're right...I had a large monoface around the same time and returned it, now wish I hadn't.
2021 small mono/duo were $6500 and $9350, respectively. Now $10,300 and $13,100 each.
Medium mono was $6750, now $10,600.
😲😲😲😲😲😲

Omega may or may not end up regretting their aggressive price increases; I know it's turned me off from buying new (still open to used though). JLC on the other hand, they will definitely regret their choices. No sane person is spending 5 figures on a steel reverso, come on. Over $10K for a basic Master Control Date? LMAO. The make-believe want list at your friendly Rolex dealer just got a bit longer in the last 2 weeks.

I agree. Think omega is going to price out their loyal fan base. If a person buys from boutique with minimal discount. Once they leave the store, it automatically loses a few thousand off msrp. Used market or grey market will look more appealing.

The problem for Swiss exporters is that the Swiss Franc has been a strong currency for the last 75 years.

Increased prices without supply control lead to that.

Now if only they restricted supply too… but glad they don’t have this petty business model.

Omega is still the best of the mid to high range prices. Their quality is arguably the best in that teir, yes that includes Rolex and Tudor. If Omega's prices goes up, so does the rest. Makes my Seamaster and PO a little more valuable each year. Aren't you glad you have an Omega that as prices increase yours will too?
I am.

Yikes… where do I begin.

Their quality is not better than Tudor or Rolex, but more on par from my experience. It’s also definitely not the best in the mid to high range, whatever that means.

Your Seamaster/PO will not be more valuable when Omega increases MSRP. A used cal. 8800 300M Diver has remained at $3.5k-3.7k since the watch came out and until this day—despite several price hikes.

Unless Omega begins to control supply—which it won’t, these price hikes will do nothing to the current value of watches and will only dissuade buyers from purchasing from non-discounting OBs.

Let’s be sensible Omega is far better than Tudor. The movement in Omega is better than Rolex amongst other things.

The Rolex oyster bracelet could be argued although rattling, looks better.

Unless a Ltd Ed I doubt 2nd hand Omega's will increase in line with the RRP increasing on new.

Rolex, Patek, AP etc yes will. Omega nope,
