Hey everyone! I am in the process of trying to buy my first Omega. I am considering buying it from an AD and when talking with them, they told me that Omega is going to have price increases globally on February 1st, 2020. Anyone know if this is true? I haven't heard it anywhere else and think he may just be trying to scare me (I am young and made the mistake of letting him know this would be my first watch.)
Haven't heard that but it would be at the right time of year and along with the trend of the industry. We'll know in a few days.
There are rumblings of a two staged price increase. One in Feb for two-tone and gold models. April for the rest.
December 2019. Omega last raised their prices in May 2019. AD warned me in April, I confirmed via OF and bought my Seamaster the day before the increase.
Thanks for the info! I could of sworn the sub date 116610 msrp was 8500 for ceramic SS.. Then next time I looked this month it was a little under 9k. I'm guessing that was the price increase?
rolex has not had price increase for 7years. I was told by AD that they have to comply by 2/2020 for price increase. Now Omega is doing it too. Other companies will follow ?
Incorrect, they had a price increase in 2018, before that 2016; now they've increased prices in 2020. They tend to do it every 2 years or so. I don't know if other companies follow Rolex but some will probably increase prices this year if they hadn't last year.
There was indeed a price increase last October, something like 5% or so here in the UK. I honestly doubt there's going to be a price increase this month but I'll call the OB tomorrow to confirm.
Went by an AD in Canada today and the salesperson confirmed that there is an incoming price increase, at least for the gold and two-tone, in Feb / Mar. They are just waiting for the new tags before it is effective.
Speaking to an AD in UK yesterday they are expecting a price rise within the next couple of months (but vague, sorry).
Omega price increase was so recent so it’s doubtful but some dealers/AD say that to get you to close the sale and impart a sense of urgency. It’s happened to me more than once with no increase and now I’m turned off if they use that sales ploy
The price increase for the two-tone/PM pieces has already happened & is apparent on Omega's website. The increase on the rest of the models will follow on in the next couple months or so.
This is true, however the last time they said it, I did a little research and discovered that the increase was coming, so I bought the watch the day before it took effect.
It's coming (if it already hasnt). I've now heard from 2 independent sources. Of course, the variable of the coronavirus might change the strategy, depending on sales impact.
I was also informed that the current Railmaster (non LE) is likely to cease production in near future, but this could have been a sales' ploy, although I don't think so (no further stock additions, which could be the dealer's choice or simply that they are now limited, who knows).
