2023 Price Increases

I completely understand price rises are necessary but don’t particularly agree on raising the price on items that have been paid for and just not supplied.
I have a deposit down on a 321 and would have been more than happy to pay the final amount and pick it up last week but instead just took another hit to the pocket.
Was told if I don’t like it just get my deposit back. Not the attitude I expected from Omega. Am I still on the list? Absolutely but won’t be racing to get the other Omegas I had in mind for this year.
Totally agree, that would make me furious. If you secured a watch at the old price with a deposit then it should be honored. I ordered a speedmaster 57 40.5 a few weeks ago from an AD to avoid the increase. Paid 500 down, balance is due (at the old price) when the watch comes in.

Meh. It's a price increase for luxury goods. Something literally none of us "needs."

I care more about the price increase of beef and eggs. I need those things!

If you only put a deposit down than that usually will not lock in the final price. With a payment in full you have a better chance in locking in the price, but that is subject to negotiation. Fifteen years ago I ordered a particular Rolex that had a delivery time of about six to eight weeks and I paid in full with the stipulation that no increases would be passed on to me. That was written on the receipt.

You are right, it has to be agreed upon in writing. I received receipt of deposit from the AD with remaining balance owed when the watch arrives. Crystal clear.

How many eggs does the average person eat anyway? So much energy around the price, yes it seems like a crazy amount when you look at the % of increase…but why are people losing it if they are now 5 or 6 dollars a dozen (here in AZ) vs. 2 dollars before? Yes it’s more than double…but WTF it’s still no more than a pint of lager or IPA at the bar or a glass of wine. The reaction seems disproportionate to the actual expenditure monthly.

There are a whole lot of people in this world who can barely make rent and buy food. Tell that to them.

You are telling me this as the defender and the voice of the unfortunate and downtrodden on an OMEGA FORUM? Seriously? Why don’t you donate a luxury watch or 2 to the cause. Rent yes…real impact. Eggs going from 2 dollars to 6 is not going to break anyone. What drama.

You’re right. I can’t imagine how food tripling in price could stress some people. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you can’t have a bit of perspective and refrain from the dumb comments. Have a nice day.

I gifted a family member a panini press because they mentioned wanting one a few months before Christmas. They called when it arrived to thank me and mentioned that they hoped they could get lunch meat next week or the following week in order to use it. Lunch meat wasn't in their regular budget, like, they couldn't afford lunch meat that week and maybe the next week.

I guess if the only thing you consumed week in and week out were a dozen eggs, the tripling of those dozen eggs wouldn't be a big deal. But then there's the mortgage or rent, a car maybe and fuel for that, electricity, maybe fuel for heating, maybe water and sewage, and various other sundries humans like to eat and require to operate a household.

I'm fortunate. Very much so. Doesn't mean I don't understand the simple reality that there are some who aren't.

You seem to be getting eggscited about this. Also you now have decided to substitute “food” for eggs. My comment was about eggs only. So you eggsaggerated to make your point. Rent was a good eggsample of real world income impact making it hard for people. Eggs…not so much.

I guess you only eat eggs. You also seem to assume many people only eat eggs. I say this because you seem unaware - or not willing to admit - that prices for a lot of food has increased by no small amount recently and that normal humans consume other food than only eggs.

Lacking your ability to understand that, eggs are clearly a bellwether to rising costs of daily living in this conversation.

I was being a bit cheeky about the beef and eggs prices. It certainly annoys me but I have the means absorb such things. That said, many (most?) people in the world don't have the ability to laugh off such increases in necessities and it is for those that my sympathies reside.

As was I, my only intention was to point out the disproportionate and kind of strange focus on eggs. Everyone is talking about it, it makes the local news here in Phoenix quite often. Inflation has impacted so many areas of the economy…people who don’t earn much are getting crushed with rent and home prices…Phoenix is one of the hardest hit in the United States for home prices, rent, and overall inflation. Yet the news continually reports on egg prices and interview people in the grocery store. Who knew eggs were a leading economic indicator!

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was making an omelette and planning my egg meals for the rest of February to feed my uncaring cold blooded capitalist belly.

Maybe you should try asking questions vs. making assumptions about people. The only bellwether I see here is you for sanctimony.

I think the focus on eggs relates to a couple things:

1) Most people buy them weekly (I certainly do). So everyone is aware of the price increase.

2) The price where I live has gone from $1.50 per dozen to $5 per dozen. Percentage-wise that's an insane increase regardless of the fact that it might only amount to couple hundred extra dollars per year in the grand scheme.

Same. When I checked last week the bracelet was priced at £640 here in the UK.

I swung by the service center just then and ordered one, I was quoted pretty much 640GBP but in JPY, I don't know if that means the price didn't move on this new bracelet or if its just a regional price difference, but given the weakness of the yen lately, perhaps the price didn't change?

I'm feeling better about splurging on the sapphire 3861 last week too.

Though I wonder how much the bracelet is now... I plan to pick one up next month.

Yes I hope the bracelet individually did not go up. Been waiting for the new clasp to be available.
