I was involved with a miracle and indeed got a black dial when the SS version released.

Im not a big Rolex head, and the SkyDweller was my first and for a long time only Rolex.

But I absolutely love the SkyDweller, primarily from the ingenuity and UX angle. There really isn’t another experience like the “command bezel,” and it’s so impressive having such an inordinately easy, fun, way to control a watch that is both an annual calendar and GMT.

A few biases to admit:

first, I have a thing for GMT/dual-time complications

second, I have good sized, nearly 8”, wrists

The SD is a large watch. At 42mm X 14mm tall, it’s my largest modern watch (have some larger 1970’s omegas 😗). I prefer smaller all-else-equal, but with larger wrists it still works for me.

One potential reservation: the white gold fluted bezel plus the polished surfaces make this thing a disco-ball. I like the the flash, but admit to being self-conscious of it at times.

If I had smaller wrists, or a greater aversion to some bling, I’d definitely recommend a test-wear before pulling the trigger (recognizing the potential impossibility of that).

More generally, and given today’s events, I find the SkyDweller to be such an interesting and impressive flex of ingenuity and invention from a company that otherwise has so little interest in those topics. I would love to know the inside story of how this watch got “ok’d” internally.
Thank you for the reply and the valuable comments!!
Although I have a 7” 3/4 wrist, the few times I tried a SD on, it did look big, so I have erred on the side of No Go… but will admit that I also fancy that function and the technical solution behind this watch.

By happenstance, I was just yesterday perusing the RubberB straps - wondering if it would provide and interesting switch-up, de-bling a bit, and reduce the appearance of size

Bought this just before Batman came out. No regrets. Too many adventures together to think about changing over. I quite like the green/black. Can’t imagine they will sell many RH configurations.

Honestly, to me Rolex and bracelets are the way to go.

Larry… you are kidding, right!?
Rolex could market poop in a shiny box and it would sell out these days, so I think they will not have ANY problem whatsoever, selling these. At least that’s my guess. 😁

Silly me. I bought my watch to travel globally, beat and sail with, which I have certainly done. It’s got the requisite scratches and dings. Bought it out of the case in Germany and actually negotiated a bit, I still think of it as a tool watch. So how many south paws are out there? Sadly these are now “ collector baubles” so you are right.

Definitely, on initial purchase the bracelet is the way to go (as buying a bracelet afterwards can often be a much bigger bite to take than if it had been purchase on bracelet, initially); but it sure is nice to have options to dress the watch down when you're feeling it needs a change 👍

Agree… but would have been nice to have a racemic mixture of the GMT Sprite, no?

I guess people will pay 10 grand more than double retail for a watch in which they simply inverted the dial. Future collector’s item.

No doubt, and in fact I’ve considered also getting the new jubilee bracelet for this head, to really bling it up.

But the black rubber: for an occasional switch-up, I’ve spent a lot more on a lot less 😁

just ordered it 👍

I hope no one wants this so I can finally buy a sports Rolex at MSRP 🙄 I've been wearing watches on my right wrist my whole life. All the hype pursuant will still be wearing them on the wrong side 😁😲

I tried a jubilee (from one of my other watches with aftermarket endlinks to fit the GMT) on my 16750 and I found it a little too precious for my taste. It was comfy, and pretty- but perhaps being so used to an oyster on it, the jubilee felt a little prissy in comparison.

And as much as I am a bracelet guy, rubber on a sub is a nice change to make it little more retro butch.

Rolex Sky Dweller ? For me that is the opposite of Class and Style. A horrible monster at any price. Would never wear one, even if it was gifted.....
