The Type 20 Bréguet and Airain have an amazing link to Naval aviation... countdown bezel and 15 minutes totalizer to name a few specific details in these good looking chronographs used by many military pilots.
Interesting to see photos of the real re-edition watch and its movement as so far it have been 3D renderings... by March 2021.
IMHO the price is spot on for a stainless steel chronograph with fly back function... and a Swiss in-house movement.

not much discussion and disclosure on the movement which any interested buyer should be able to appreciate

They must be paying attention - an email showed up in my inbox today with this:

No extra information though really. Still, a manual-wind column wheel flyback for like $3k isn't shabby, no matter the operation

any one-to-one comparison between the first issue and this new edition? this could be a
serious chronovirus. 😉

Might someone help this idiot understand the bezel?

12hr count down?

Might someone now help this idiot understand the video host’s mention of the 60 minute counter being relevant specifically to aircraft carrier aviation while the 30 minute counter being relevant specifically to “non naval” aviation?

Also, in my very limited understanding of aviation Chronographs, there are in some contexts a prefer nice for instead a 15 minute counter - as I understood it being relevant to various pre-flight checks requiring a 15 minute run time interval of some sorts.

I guess in all I’d love to be pointed toward a reliable resource on how these aviation chrono minute counters are borne of particular aviation timing requirements.

I thought the video host did a good job of (for a dunce like me) explaining the fly back relevance to an aviation chronograph

So I wonder if it's maybe like a more-customized SW510M ? Or did La Joux-Perret do their own version of it?

Who is the supplier I can't say, but this movement has 7750 written all over it (not literally just in case someone decides to take it that way).

Tweaks for the column wheel, so this is based off the ETA column wheel version of the 7750...A08somethingorother...but the underlying base architecture is unmistakable. Oh they added the Triovis regulator too, different main chronograph bridge (since this is a manual wind), etc.

So what do we think of the chocolate brown dial version?

I've been thinking about acquiring a Type 20 watch for some time.

I had been thinking "vintage," but this offer is a very appealing alternative.

And a flyback, too, which I guess might answer why they went with having it customized by LJ-P rather than using a 510M. Even so, I expected it would be some sort of off-the-shelf movement at that price point, so it's not exactly all that surprising.

Not a very thorough attempt at a one-to-one comparison, but still a useful read on this one can be found here: https://monochrome-watches.com/airain-type-20-re-edition-comeback-price/

In addition, Fratello made a rough comparison too: https://www.fratellowatches.com/airain-type-20-chronograph-watch-faithfully-re-introduced/

That doesn't look kosher? Never seen one with those pushers, crown and case?! @Ludi can chime in?

It reminds me of the movement foud in my Longines BigEye Avigation..Marketed as "in-house" ref L-688. I have to say, it performs very well and it seems to be quite well executed with it's column wheel. Up to this date, reliable and solid. Hopefully the Airain gives me the same satisfaction.

Faz, Thank you.

I was on their site today but somehow could not find the detailed specs.

Now I see that they are on the order page.
