Wow! Well there certainly are enough spare parts here for that little project.

Time to start banging it up to get it back to original condition. Amazing work, particularly the case refinishing. When I started reading this thread, I thought "No way, there's no way to get an original finish from that case".

Thanks! When I started this thread I didnt even have the watch in my possession. When it arrived the case was a lot worse than I expected and I was disappointed. I thought I would end up post omega restoration with an overpolished lump with a brand new bezel which would have looked out of place. Instead I have a brand new chronograph which is keeping impeccable time. I think I ended up paying the full retail second hand price but I am also glad I saved it from oblivion. It looked like it was either used by a diver or lost on a rocky beach for a few years. Every part of the case was dented.

That's no big deal. It's a Mistake for sure on their part and it never should of happened but they will fix it and it will run perfectly for 20 years. No worries.

You didn鈥檛 change the date after 10pm (or before 2am) did you?

Anyway, hope you get it sorted out quickly and back on your wrist.

I sent the watch back to omega today as it was returned from a service with a faulty date change issue. Hopefully it is returned pretty quickly as I dont think its a big problem.

Omega got back to me and told me they couldnt fault the watch. So it is coming back again this week. Does anyone else here own this model and notice anything unusual with the date change?

Hi, it is better to avoid changing the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, I have over 8 of different variant of this model around me (friends and family) I have one that had a date change problem and I must admit It took our local a.d. a few try to finally fix it. The problem was the date would just stop changing all together , the watch still work but the date would not change anymore, what exactly is the problem with your date change ?

Hi, I checked it at 9am one morning and I noticed it was on the 31st rather than thr 1st so I manually attempted to set it. It got stuck half way and I couldnt feel any engagement while I rotated the crown. Then suddenly there was a catch and I could feel resistance. I decided to have Omega double check this since it had only been returned to me a few days earlier. I have never noticed this nor had a similar issue with any mechanical watch I have owned.

The 12 hour cycle must have been in the PM, which would explain this. I guess I will just have to be careful. Then again if you look at the before photos, the previous owner abused/used this for its intended purposes, suffice is to say, the date wheel worked fine when I first bought it and prior to the service.

This movement is based on the ETA7750 movement which doesn't have a instant date change at midnight. You can see it engage and take a while before it actually flips over.

When setting the time/date I always go past 12 to make sure I know if it is AM/PM on the watch and then go to 6:30 as that is safe either side. Adjust date and then set time correctly. I have a TAG with this movement though rather than an Omega. I don't think the changes are extensive like they are on an 1120 vs 2892.

That makes a lot of sense and thanks for the tips! It is coming back tomorrow so I will let you know, I dont imagine there will be anymore issues.
