Hello Everyone

My watchmaker told me it is very hard and nearly impossible for average watchmaker to remove the chronograph second hands (2599.80) without little damages to the hand...

Is this true??

No - there's always some risk of the hand coming apart on removal, but in my experience it's not common at all. If the proper techniques are used, you can minimize this risk significantly. But if your watchmaker is not comfortable working on this watch, then I would seek out someone who is, rather then trying to convince them into doing something they are not comfortable with.

I agree with Archer. There are some specific ways to remove a chrono seconds hands to mitigate the risk of damage. Omega isn’t as bad as Breitling. The odds of damaging a center seconds chrono hand is mich higher on those. Of course Breitling does use a hammer to install the chrono seconds hand…

I hate Breitling chrono hands, had the most awful time with a vintage 7750. It was like the damn thing had been welded on! So yes, I would suggest if any watchmaker is not confident then go to someone who is as they can be an absolute nightmare.

Breitling...

They intentionally put them on so hard that they are damaged on removal, so you have to take the watch to them for servicing to get new hands...

That's just sharp practice in my book, not a fan of companies acting like this.
