I know he has had a '58 5508 and a '58 6536-1 in his shop months ago. I could be wrong about this one, but I am only saying new because he just posted about it in his instagram stories.

Jacek, like a lot of dealers, recycles the stories of their slower moving inventory pieces

I think we are both right in this case. He has had one before. This one is different.

Agreed 100%. I would be lying if I said I was window shopping. My face is just pressed to the glass, looking at the goodies.

Not every watch listed as sold is really sold. If you track these pieces, it's not uncommon to see them move from one dealer to another, perhaps to avoid the listings getting stale. I occasionally notice this just because a watch looks familiar, as with a gilt 5513 that moved from Tropicalwatches to HQMilton recently, with a bracelet added.

Yes there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that isn't talked about as it doesn't fit into the narrative of ' must have fantastic investment piece"

Some of these that move between dealers are consignment pieces, too. If they don't move with one seller the may go to another.

There are also instances when a dealer has two similar models but only pushes one

I have no problem with this, except for the fact that consignment pieces that don't sell are often listed as SOLD on the website afterwards, as you probably know. Small, but obvious, falsehoods like these just make dealers look sleazy.

Does any fellow tri-state members remember when these 6542's were all over the chelsea and hell's kitchen weekend markets for cheap? We would find them even cheaper in the Philippines and sell them to pavel or johnny at the chelsea flea market thinking we made a score.
I still wake up with cold sweats over that and the daytonas...

Not from the tri-state area, but, I remember when the 6542s were cheap back in the early 1980s. I had more than one opportunity to pick one up, but, I was concerned about the bakelite (acrylic) bezel breaking up.... should have just bought a couple and put them away in a safety deposit box. Who knew?

Whatever the story behind this particular 6542, none of us can say it's a bad example. The dial is beautiful, the hands and markers match and have a creamy patina, the acrylic bezel, the bracelet... I mean, if I'm looking for the thorns on the rose bush, the case is a little banged up and polished.
Awesome watch.

$126K for this seems far more reasonable than a PN Daytona, and far more rare.
