1956 Omega Seamaster - Genuine?

Hello, everyone! Been browsing this forum for months and hoping I can be a part of the community. Well, finally was able to get my hands on my very first vintage Omega! I am excited to say the least.

Although, I did my homework, I would still love to see what the experts here think. Does this look genuine? It does not have the "Swiss made" mark but I guess some of them didn't in the past?

Thanks to all in advance and looking forward to engaging often in the coming days.

It's authentic, but not in good condition, unfortunately. I'm afraid that the dial has been repainted, which is something we generally try to avoid. The movement is also showing a lot of wear and the case has been heavily polished (particularly obvious on the back).

Sorry to be a downer, but it's generally better for beginners to ask before buying.

The dial should have Swiss Made or Swiss at the bottom. The reason it doesn’t is explained above.

Thank you for the insight. This is what I found for this particular reference https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-seamaster-calendar-ck-2849 .

Also, was told it was services in 2022. If you don't mind me asking, what was the dead giveaway that it is repainted and polished? It seems like the link on Omega site does have the Swiss Made either so was that the only give away? Would love to learn so I can be more diligent in future.

NO, the printing is completely incorrect, particularly Seamaster. Look at some other 2849s for comparison.

Agree on returning the watch especially if the redial wasn’t disclosed. Recommend asking for advice before the purchase for next time.
