I've been looking at this on as well but I turned it down as s re-dial. It's too perfect for a black dial and the dial doesn't match the condition of the hands and case. The seller claims the strap and clasp are genuine as well. Too expensive for what it is IMHO. Hang around here for while and take a look in the sales section for a better deal. Best of luck!

Edit: I had a look at the other watches he sells, at least two are bad re-dials and he doesn't say anything about that
I agree, to me the hands seem to have a lot more patina than the dial. I just received more pictures from him, and the dial is close to a perfect black, while hands and indexes looks more worn.

The seller claims to have bought it recently, so my guess is that any work has been done before his ownership. If it is a re-dial (and a lot point towards it now), I guess he just don’t know, and now want to sell it close to cost for himself.

There is a few of the same and similar models available for ≈ 50% of the price, which to me seems more reasonable, so I guess I’ll keep an eye on the market. I really like the looks of these models.

Leaning heavily towards redial. OMEGA is missing serifs and looks to be printed gold rather than gilt.

Crowns can be replaced during a service, so that can be common.

If @X350 XJR says the buckle and strap are fake then they are beyond “unoriginal”, they are counterfeit. Selling counterfeit parts without declaring it speaks to either the seller’s knowledge or honesty.

There is a very long thread here about just this topic https://omegaforums.net/threads/about-omega-buckles.37347/. You’ve entered a rabbit warren of minutia that will either excite or terrify you 😅
You are right, that is a tiny bit terrifying 😅

I’ll give it a good look, because the knowledge you all have is extremely impressing!

It's always easier to tell with the watch in hand, but I'm also leaning towards a better-than-average re-dial. If it were a quarter of the price, I might just take a chance on it, but not at such a premium price. Presumably the seller over-paid for it, and doesn't want to take a loss.

Very interesting thread. Shows the importance of good pictures. One thing I recently discovered was the magnifier option on iPhone. Not sure how it works but does wonders for cases like this one…

Hi, I’m the seller. I’ve deleted the claims about the buckle/strap, was not aware myself. I would like to know which of the other watches you mean that are redials?

I know mine is an original

Where are the serifs on the OP's dial?

What do you guys think, is this a good purchase for a first Omega?
Getting back to your original question, I would say no, not a good purchase for a first Omega. It is most likely a redial which is nearly ubiquitous with these black dials on the market. The price is very high for a redial. You can certainly wear and enjoy a redialed watch, and sometimes the focus on originality may seem excessive, but this is a collectors forum so you are getting that perspective. But you should understand the resale value is severely reduced for redial and you would not come close to recovering your investment.
You may think “it’s ok I will never sell it”. But you will as you come to appreciate the finer points of vintage watches.
I would follow the recommended vintage Omega on eBay thread for good education, read Learn how to Fish thread. And check out the Private Sales post you can find nice examples from trusted OF members
Happy hunting!
