1950s Rolex Oyster: help for newbie with potential purchase

So this is what my 70 year old case back looks like. Sorry for the quick iphone pic, but you get the idea...no mangled teeth or other signs of distress. And the watch is definitely not a safe queen. I'll second everyone that have concerns with older Rolex watches. Unless it has good bones, it is usually better to walk away. Unless your watchmaker has an abundance of spare parts, it isn't worth the headache.

@Canuck, outside forums like this, where would you look for 50's/60's manual wind Rolexes? I'll admit I thought this one looked pretty good for $1000 and almost bought the watch below for closer to $2000 recently.

After a very unpleasant exchange with someone else who posted in this thread, constituting a marked difference of opinion between the two of us on the merits of the Rolex that opened this thread, I reserve the right to not offer any more opinions.

Original watch may be a correct manual wind 34mm silver stick dial 6282 from the early 60s but it needs further investigation. His/her asking price is too high and condition is quite average
