145.012 Dial/Hands Lume gunk

Seeking opinion from the Speedy experts on the state of the dial lume and hands gunk in the attached pic. The watch is a decent 145.012 except for the greenish lume on the steps all across the hour markers. The hands also show evidence of oil.

My question is, can the oil residue on the hands be removed with expert service without damaging lume and hands themselves. As regards, the hour markers on the dial, I presume it cannot be "cleaned up" or can it be?

Maybe. I suppose the hands and dial lume would likely wind up being ‘redone’, to one degree or another.

But, this is not a rare reference and, if pristine is important to you, I would be tempted to wait for a better example to come along - this may be cheaper in the long run.

On the other hand, patina has its place and, for right price price it might be a keeper as is.

A -66 HF of mine.

(While it has its place, I am not a fan of reluming, so you’ll need to figure in my prejudice against it. And, I would want to see clear movement photos to assure myself that moisture intrusion, which may have prompted the dial and hands deterioration, has not played havoc with the movement too.)

"This isn't the 145.012 that you're looking for." Apologies to Obi Wan

I don't believe you will be able to clean up the "lume gunk" or the oil on the hands, but, rather you should consider finding a better example unless the price is great. The case and bezel insert look good, but, too many issues with the hands and plots... move on.

It is easier to accept issues the rarer the reference.

Mold on the lume markers, rust on the sub dial hands, wonder what the movement looks like?

Looks like a dealer photo - why don’t you ask them why they haven’t done it?😉

I suspect the watch might look better in real life than that backlit photo, but I would reiterate what has been said. The only reason to buy this is because it is cheap, it’s never going to be improvable.

still for the right price it’s nice. It’s all about the price - which again judging purely from the photo, I will bet is the price of a better one.
