Pie Pan - correct dial, hands, crown ?

Hello all,

I have a 14393 61 SC Pie Pan which I bought very cheaply.

It has the wrong crown and hour hand and the dial is not pristine.

I like to restore it and it seems worth spending some money on it as its total cost would still be below market value of a pristine version.

I have attached photos of a dial and hands. Are these correct for my watch ? (I will have the hands gold plated to match the markers on the dial)

I have read up a lot on the crowns and not had a conclusive answer as to which is correct. Most writeups seem to point to a 10 sided crown being correct.
I have read that the 10 sided crown is very difficult to use. In that case, what crown would be acceptable ?

Please advice if one of the crowns shown would be acceptable replacements.

Thank you !

May I see picture from the back side of your dial?

If I remember correctly, this dial was asked in this forum’s before?

The correct crown can be the “thin decagonal” or the “thin scalloped” crown.

Thank you for your response.

Attached are photos of the back of the dial.

The crowns I have shown aren’t acceptable replacements ?

For me personally I wouldn't comfortable puting a "officially certified" dial in a 14393. Feel very odd.
FYI, first pic are clover crown - not correct for 14393,
second one looks like a service (or counterfeit) thin decagon crown, correct one should have flat foot logo like @qazwsx1 posted.

There are two ‘correct’ crowns for a 14381/14393 as @qazwsx1 says.
The standard crown is the decagonal and the alternative is the thin scallop.
To replace it with another alternative you must know the dimensions of the crown and tube size ( and that it is waterproof if you wish to maintain the watch’s integrity)
BTW the decagonal crown is not THAT difficult to use.

Regarding the dial, the dial you show is a ‘full text’ dial.
This style was used, quite uncommonly, at the end of the references’ run but you will need to know the dimensions of the new dial as not all dials are interchangeable between references.

Hope that helps.

Per the reference sheets I found online, the 14393 uses 42055 crown, which as everyone says it's the thin decagonal crown (hard to find since they're no longer produced). The modern replacement is BF 8100/1664. I see ofrei.com has both 8100/1664W (steel version) and the 8100/1664Y (yellow version) at the website below. $25 each.

My only other option would be to have a dial refinished and we all know how that goes. Anyway I would keep my original dial as it is and get a used dial refinished but no one seems to be able to re finish them to a great degree of accuracy.

I wonder if a professional could carefully remove the third text line from the original dial iv shown ?

Or else I would have to not worry about the full text and just go with it.

The dial you posted was yours? Or you have not yet buy it?
If the dial yours, I suggest you hunt for a 168.005 with sharp case and shitty dome dial them make a swap. Then you will have yourself a really nice example of a dogleg cross hair piepan. Less headache for ya.

NO!

This - but only if it is the correct sized dial for the case.

Complete shot in the dark as this post is more than a year old, but do you still have the hands for this pie pan, and would you be willing to part with them?

Been searching for a few months for a set

I installed the hands on my watch.
