Anyone else following this? I'm assuming it's going to end up far too rich for my means but hope someone here might pick it up. I think it's a reference 5449? I have doubts about the central hands and the dial may be a little dirty. But, this is one of the sharpest looking cases I've seen on this style. I mean just look at those stepped lugs!

calling the dial “a little dirty” is generous. I think it’s far too dirty for me to enjoy wearing it personally and I like to think in general I am pretty open minded and not as bothered by wear and tear that others may not be able to accept.

The three hands on the central is a real problem for me as well especially the way they are bent badly and the super short minute hand.

The combination of all of these things would definitely bug me. It’s a good case although for whatever reason the 5449 cases I have come across are largely sharp and well preserved.

A 37mm 18k 13ZN sold in an auction at Henry´s (Schifferstadt/Germany) for 21.350 Euros:

sold as is I guess, dial in not perfect condition not even overhauled, the price is highly exagerated regarding the condition of the watch

13ZN with black dial are highly sought-after and uncommon. It would be difficult to find a nicer example for less money.

I don't see it as overpaid. On the contrary, I am sad I didn't see it the auction before.

Don't think it would ever have made USD 100k in this condition.

Hello all!

Just finally had a chance to read through this thread - so much knowledge so thank you to all who have contributed. I have personally been looking for a chronograph for some time and have naturally been drawn to a 13ZN - this thread has certainly just emphasised that.

The below watch caught my eye as I personally have a preference for gold watches (appreciating steel 13ZN are typically more desirable). Based on my newly acquired knowledge of these watches from this thread, below is my best "analysis" of the watch. Would very much appreciate thoughts from the experts!

Case/ crown: Polished but lugs (as example) are still fairly sharp. Crown is not original I think as most with the 4994 barrel case seem to have a "flat" crown whilst this has a more round shape.

Dial: Based on this thread I would say font/ text of Longines and Anti-Magnitque looks right. The numbers/ digits look appropriate compared with other comparable dials (open 6s, 7s with longer backs etc), although I am still a bit confused about the variation of fonts used on one dial - maybe something to just make it more interesting discussion for collectors... My main hesitation is the colour of the telemetre and tachymetre scales which looks very crisp - maybe repainting?

Movement: Not really my forte - any thoughts apart from that it has gone through some serious polishing?

And last, but not least, price - currently waiting for response but what would you guys say this is ballpark worth? Appreciating steel is more desirable would $10k be approximate price?

Thank you in advance for any comments/ thoughts!

Isn't that the same one you and Alphabet suggested was a steal when it sold at Sotheby's?

Indeed, same one. Sold March 26, 2020 at Sothebys and was posted on eBay right afterwards.

At 32,150 CHF, I think that is a pretty damn good deal for a 5699 with original dial. I have certainly not seen them (correct original dial) that low in a while. The 100,000 figure from Maanu is certainly an exaggeration - that is what Bulang was asking for an incredible condition one.

When mint dials are getting those levels, of course "not mint" original dials will get less, but usually not this much less. What hurts the eBay listing is that (a) many know what the Sotheby's price was (b) add on taxes that eBay collects now in all states and you are north of $40,000.

The main picture in the eBay listing I think under sells the watch. I would not call this "a poor dial" per se:
