The Hodinkee 13zn report has been modified - don´t know the date. Apparently they changed their opinion about the possibility of an authetic 13zn12 (the model with central 60-minute-counter + 12-hour counter at 3 o´clock) WITH flyback-function. rgds - h.u.
There are still a few details that bother me. This one being the most significant. This is blatantly incorrect. Consider the Longines 5412 peripheral calendar that was introduced in the 1940s. Also consider the Longines "Nautilus Skin Diver" that was introduced in the late 1950s.
And, by the time I paid shipping & duty it was a little closer to $5700 or so, but still a great price for a great piece, and I def need to upgrade the strap from the Nato, It also has fixed lugs.
Knowing very little about the elusive Romanian 13ZNs, I wondered if someone would be willing to comment on this dial/example. I find the typeface of the tachymetre scale to be quite contemporary for 1937. I am also intrigued by the subdials as their numerals are vertically oriented as opposed to the radially oriented numerals of most(?) other Romanian 13ZNs. http://mentawatches.com/inventory/romanian-army-longines-13zn-chronograph/
This sold last week at Christies for 8k, but I too was unimpressed by the dial or at least what I could make of it from various photos. Here's a worthwhile link for romanian air force issued Longines. http://www.ceasuripentruromania.ro/ceasuri.php?id_article=11&language=english
Ah yes, you had brought this up in the past but I did not make the connection. It was in this thread: https://omegaforums.net/threads/13zn-redial-at-sothebys.31494/ I have found the website that you link very useful in the past but I greatly appreciate your opinion in this instance. It still astounds me that watches such as this go untested for so long. Edit: I did not realize that it sold last week as well as in November of last year. And now it is for sale again.
Being in Romania, I frequent various antique shops, pawn shops and jewelers in the hope to suddenly stumble upon an original example, lying there under a stack of generic vintage watches, forgotten and forsaken, priced at 100€ or so. I would then pretend to be quasi-interested and say something like "100 euro for this condition? I'll give you 50", then buying it for 80, all the while trying not to soil my pants. Of course, this never happens. But I do not give up hope!
Lot 458 looks familiar... http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog_asta.html?hideauctions=1&auctionid=300
Initially a nice looking 13ZN but upon closer inspection the "Fab. Suisse" dial does not match with the "LXW" marked balance cock. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Longines-S-S...142354?hash=item4654f65c52:g:vbwAAOSwmfhX2Q4tPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Correct. And on the chrono bridge should be written "LONGINES", not "SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS" as usually on LXW-movements. rgds - h.u.
Some of these are thought to be reprinted. Some thought to be transitions from 13zn to 30ch.Regardless, did Longines ever make dials of this style for 13zn
The three dials above are all poor redials. Are you asking if there are 13ZN dials with the winged hourglass logo?
