Well of course if everybody keeps posting live auctions they are bound to become hilarious one way or another.
I sure am glad I'm not buying chronographs. I certainly would not be laughing if people were posting an auction I'm targetting.

On the other hand this is a completed auction.... has it been discussed before somewhere around here?

I glanced at that one and discarded it as a redial, but I might have been too hasty...

Not suprised by that. Seller is a well known Rolex guy who always runs no reserve auctions. And will relist after a couple of days if the price was low...

@Syrte and @MMMD A discussion on this watch began here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/13z...es-and-information.32929/page-23#post-1089044 and continued onto the next page of the thread. I think the watch was listed a few times.

Well he seems to have lost about 30 % value this time around.... thought that was a damn good price. Here it is for the record. Dial looks fine to me even though I’m not expert.

hour and minute hand wrong. small second maybe correct, as well as the second/minute counter hands. dial looks good to me, except the uncut "4" and "8" - the distance between "4", "8" and the counters seem way too long to me.. better pics would be helpful. the printing is maybe not as exact as usual; not sure if that´s caused by the pic.

rgds - h.u.

This 5415 has been for sale for a while. And now the seller has
included pictures of dial reverse. Here are the pictures for
later reference, even so the consensus among us collectors already is redial.

Merry Christmas to you all!

I need an opinion on a Longines 6595 that I intend to purchase.
It's a cal. 30CH, sorry for posting here but one such example as mine can be found on page 9 of the thread, so figured it'd be OK
From what I could gather (I'm by far no expert on these), it should be all original, including the crown - Longines written in circular on the outer edge of the dome.
The dial also looks original, perhaps cleaned a bit on the outer ring. But apart from that looks OK-ish (the condition isn't the best but I am fine with a bit of bubbling/unimportant scratches. Will have to see it in person though).
Movement looks clean, and I'll have the chance to hold it in hand/test it a bit.
Case may show some signs of polish, but from all pictures I found it looks OK.

Anything I should be worried about?

You can find another example in Italy, and the picture is a good comparison

Is this one an original dial? (Not an expert on chronos but the slightly sunken edges of those subdials would give me pause. Also the index track below 6).

I m not sure it looks nice to me but I would need to have it physically in my hands to judge...

Thanks for the input so far 😀

I have done a bit of research (it’s not the most expensive watch I buy but it’s interesting to know beforehand as much as possible so I don’t get a total lemon) and everything checked out fine.

There are always things that one can miss, and a redial is not something I am terribly good at spotting... I would go with an original condition on the example I have in mind, and a “probably OK” on the italian one - just in a very nice condition.

Here is an interesting thread that I found during my searches:

https://orologi.forumfree.it/m/?t=68774181

I tried to gauge market value on the piece but the prices vary a lot, depending on venue and condition, so I gave up.

Hi Stephan,

welcome to the forum and congratulations to this fantastoc family heirloom! From what I can see in the pictures dial seems to be original and everything else is in great shape as well. 🥰👍

Viele Grüße aus HH
Lars

Hi Stephan, the watch is all original and the dial is stunning; regrettably at some point, someone has fixed the lugs hole, not a nice job. Anyway the watch is beautiful.
