Hi all!

I am currently in the market for a Seamaster 166.028 and I recently found a goldcapped one locally. This is a double reference 166.028 168.022 with cal. 564 chronometer certified inside. The seller asks 800 Euro (970 USD) so i have some doubts on that price. Can you please share your thoughts or some advices whether to buy it or not.

A couple things I see from pics provided by the seller:

The case looks unpolished, but there is a small dent on the bezel at the 7 o'clock and the bigger one on the lug.

Dial looks like original and all of the hands either. Crystal has engraved Omega logo.

Movement is cal. 564 which is certified chronometer and I believe is more desirable than a non-chronometer one.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Watch looks okay except those two big dents on the left bottom leg and on the bezel, the reason for that price I guess is that although this caliber is chronometer certified this dial arrangement and reference is not very popular amongst collectors.

It is probably just fine, blurry photos aside and the cosmetic issues noted above, if you are committed to acquiring this reference in gold cap. The movement looks really clean, but probably will require a full service.

If you like this reference though, I would opt to get this fully serviced, stainless steel example from an established forum member here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-chronometer-ref-168-022-serviced-795.123695/

Good luck!

That linked watch is a great bargain. I'm still surprised these aren't more popular.

If not for the dents but, perhaps, it gives it character!
Let us know how it goes.

Well, I've seen the watch with my own eyes and these 'small' dents do really bother me. You know this feeling when something is not 'yours'? This what happened. So the watch remained in hands of seller.

Thanks for your opinins dear OF members.
