    Hi,

I've been looking for a SM120 for a long time now and have perused/studied gemini4's massive thread on the '120 titled " My Early Seamaster 120 Divers. What to look for and what to avoid." Excellent thread, by the way.

There's this Seamaster 120 166.027 cal 565 up for auction and was wondering if you guys could help me, share your thoughts and possible advices.

    Here's the link on Chrono24.

    https://www.chrono24.com/omega/seamaster-120-ref-166027-in-steel--id11254013.html

Sorry, I don't know if I'm allowed to use/share their pictures elsewhere.

    Thanks in advance ....

    Raymond

    Hi Raymond,
I would ask the seller for more photos of the watch. But I would say that first impression checks most of the boxes.
The hands are wrong and you should replace them. Hard to find but not impossible. The bezel looks a bit too good to be true. Might be one of the recent „improved“ aftermarket parts.

Actually I really wonder why there are so many fake parts of the seamaster 120 on the markets. I always thought that fakers would be more Interested in the pricy models.

Thank you 321only and Shabbaz for your advices :) I will walk away from this one.

It's getting harder to find an original/authentic one :( All I want is to look down at my wrist enjoying the watch and knowing that the case, caseback, movement and face/dial-components all left the factory as one. I don't even mind paying a premium for as long as it has been taken cared of properly.

    The search continues :)

    Thanks again.

    Best, Raymond

    Welcome Raymond,
It's hard to find a good one nowadays. Those who are good certainly increase in value. Keep searching, it took a long time for me to find one as well.

I think it’s geniune except for the hands. Bezel looks “too good”, true, but not impossible and the pearl looks correct. Mine came with replacement hands, so it happens. Price is already up to $1.5k so it’s pushing the value of good ones with all original parts.

@Shabbaz has a few I think he is moving along, you should reach out and see if you want one with no guess work or doubt.

I'vd send Raymond a PM. A lot of times I see people looking for watches that I'm selling but I dont send them a pm because I dont want to look like a bloodhound. I rather give genuine advice. But in this case I did approach him just a couple of minutes ago... ;) We'll see what happens...

Bezel looks correct in my eyes. Here is two of mine so you can compare. I can’t see any discrepancy..

Worth to mention is also the fact that the watch comes with original 1069 bracelet. They are NOT easy to find especially with correct end links (should be 524). Only bracelet is worth around 500 usd. All in all, if you can accept wrong hands, the watch looks good to me. All depends on final price..

By the way, with those hands and the tired movement I dont trust that bezel one bit. Especially because it's black on the outerrim. No way... This watch was worked on...
