It’s easy to put the ball in the net after the whistle has gone and the opponents stop playing. As such I can only think you’re joking, so in that case, that’s funny!
No I am not joking. It’s England’s fault for sleeping and not staying on their feet. So if what I say doesn’t stand. Why did they throw the ball in? Nothing would have happened then. You snooze you lose.btw. Hope your a full fútbol fan if your going to comment. Not just watching because of World Cup.

A “full” football fan? Yeah I have a tattoo of Ferenc Puskás on my arse and sleep in a Dulka-Prague Away Kit. Am I allowed an opinion now?

I’ll give you a firm example then if you snooze you lose. When a free kick is happening close to the box. There are times when they are setting up for the wall. The referee at time doesn’t tell the kicker to wait for the whistle. The kicker touches the ball passed it to the other player. Then there is an easy goal. No one was ready. So what then. The goal shouldn’t count then? Because they weren’t ready. The ball was clearly out of the sideline when England through the ball in. That is not Colombia’s fault for playing within the respected rules and England wasn’t ready.

😁😁

If you're an England football fan then you have to suffer virtually all the time but console yourself that the Jocks (Scotland) and Taffs (Wales) are usually worse😉. No suffering today (apart from a boring first half hour) - semi finals for the first time since 1990 and we won't be meeting Germany!! Best chance since we last won it...

Cheers, Chris

Croatia and Russia are playing a great game to see who will meet England in the semis.

No Brazilian whining and crying in this one.

PK time now.

The more I watch this game, the more I’m convinced there are no tactics involved in this sport... seems to me that most goals are just by serendipity in nature... anyone?

As someone who played for close to 40 years, I am not sure I agree with your assessment.

Well the semi finalists have been decided. More beer and not so late nights for those in France, England, Croatia and Belgium,
What a great World Cup. Good luck to all (not that luck has too much to do with it)

If you've never played and only watch on TV, it's hard to see what everyone is doing. It's not a game of luck, any more than any ball sport. One of the greatest things that the UK gave the world as you can play it with a few people, a ball and jumpers for goalposts...

Cheers, Chris

Watch this free kick and see if it sways you. Beautifully planned and only Sterling missing makes it not perfect.

Legit?? That Colombia game was not legit. They stole that 2nd goal from them. That ball was out the sideline.

Oh Dear

I believe Mr Yossarian was referring to the phantom goal vs Germany in 1966.
And was very much tounge in cheek.

Fortunately we have VAR now so obviously every descion will be correct. Nobody will be able to tamper with penalty spots or head butt opponents without the appropriate punishment.

I’m not sure if you have heard? But football is coming home.

Completely disagree. This England team is the perfect example of what young, inexperienced players can do with good tactics, when compared to the "golden generation" who had the experienced, mature players, but no tactical nounce.

Completely agree, David

Current team just needs the additional confidence / momentum, of consistently scoring from ‘open play’, as opposed to ‘set pieces’ & PK’s

I believe we're due a rendition of

"I can live with the despair, it's the hope that's killing me"

England are a good "Team" at the moment. Lord Waistcoat has them well organised and nobody in the team is looking to someone/anybody else to make stuff happen (which was the crime the golden generation committed when they weren't trolling their ego's up and down the laneway).

they may not be the technical best of the teams remaining but if they can find some more scoring scenarios rather than the set piece they should do well in the final against Belgium.

Basically if they find Sterling some confidence they should win.

I really can’t see who could beat France in this World Cup, and I don’t think it will be Belgium...

Come on Australia nearly did if it wasn't for the bogus free kick they got. 😗

Rejoice! What pocketwatch nerds needed was a waistcoat/ vest/ gilet revival. Thank you, Gareth Southgate, England Manager.

Belgium have the flare that is so refreshing that apart from Brasil and Japan has been lacking. Hopefully the young Lions are finding their way and confidence .
