Yours has the edge on mine for condition, I think, but mine says hello!

The grey tapestry is definetely a contester! Grey tapestry is actually still available in an updated version found on Rolex Day-Date today.

This is mine and not The patina on the dial?
Yes, beautiful watch! Some of these silver tapestry can turn into a nice salmon color when exposed to enough UV light. Example from ch24.

Congratulations! Looks like it鈥檚 in great condition, really nice acquisition, wear in good health 馃憤.

Is the case on this 36mm?
Thank you! Yes, 36mm, witch suits the everyday watch very good IMO.

Forgot to add a few words on what makes the 16220s interesting for me:

All-steel with the engine-turned bezel - no longer available
The option of the gorgeous tapestry dials as we're discussing..
Tritium on the dial (for early examples)
Sapphire crystal
Open 6/9 date wheel (I have a very early example from 1989)
Solid movement still used today in the Sub Date

The 3100 series movement is a very good argument,
but I did notice that the date wheel on my X series Datejust does not have open '6' and '9'. Anybody know about this? 馃槙

The tapestry dial is fantastic and not often seen. Great watch with a unique look.

Very nice, but remove that green sticker.

I would not remove it, I would put a clear service sticker (the ones with the red stripe) above it and change it regularly because of the bacteria. T think that is the best way to keep this sticker.

I had the silver dial version of this, circa 1993. I loved the way the dial looked outside on a cloudy day.

For the first addition this year, I finally found a 16220 -> in good condition ->
with accessories ->
with certificate ->
with jubilee bracelet->
with tapestry dial ->
with a nice tapestry dial...
Just love that tapestry... What do you think?

Gorgeous watch. Congrats!!
