From 1945 until today, the Rolex Datejust has been a stone cold classic! From T-shirt to suit, it does it all AND it does it all in style! This is a fantastic vintage example of an icon within the Datejust line, the reference 1601: a must have in any collection!

    REFERENCE: 1601

    SERIAL NUMBER: 3,281,XXX

    YEAR: 1973

DIAL: LOVES ME a Rolex silver sunburst dial, and this is a great example! That sunburst finish is beautiful, with clean lettering and perfectly aged and full tritium lume plots. Lume on hands has aged darker but all original, all sparks the same under UV. I think what makes this one really cool is the aging that has occurred on the hour markers. Very subtle on the wrist, and even in macro, but when the light hits it right it pops with these incredible purples and browns - just awesome!

CRYSTAL: Plexi crystal has wear, as expected, but all in presents beautifully.

CASE: Really nice 36MM stainless steel case with solid 18k white gold bezel. Has wear throughout, mostly seen on the polished sides, as to be expected, but hope I look nearly this good at 51!

MOVEMENT: Service history is unknown, but that iconic Rolex automatic work horse is doing what it was designed to do - winding and setting beautifully. And being from 1973, this was just after they added the hacking feature, a nice addition for sure! Timegrapher numbers are great at 6 seconds a day with an amplitude of 246.

BRACELET: Comes complete with what I believe is its original Rolex folded link jubilee bracelet and matching 55 end links. Light wear throughout, mostly seen on the clasp, but looks great all around, with well below average stretch for the age, especially for a large jubilee - this will fit over 7.5 inches.
